That said could be worse I had it one time that an aetherium crest disappeared from my inventory and made the whole quest fubar
Weapon racks have issues. Weapons disappearing, flying off the rack, levitating in the air, the rack ceasing to function making the weapon irretrievable (or being unable to put a weapon on the rack, if empty when it happens), and removing custom names/enchantments all all known things that happen with weapon racks.
Armor mannequins aren't any better, and have the added bug of sometimes moving. (They are actually static NPCs.) So use caution when displaying things, and don't display things you aren't willing to lose. Which sucks, as the unique items are usually the ones you want to display.
As you clear the mine if you do that quest, you get to an area with a waterfall and stairs. Behind the waterfall there's a secret door to a separate part of the temple. There's a draugr encased in Nordic ice. I think that's where there's a pick, probably in case the smith was closed before starting the mine quest. At any rate, I've always found two of those picks in my old high level save games and that's my best guess.
I've gotten into the habit of improving my regular pick so if I end up with more than one pick, I don't accidentally sell or drop it. Improving the Nordic one makes it stand out when selling a bunch of weapons without having to read the names.
Typical lol.
The Blacksmith Glover, starts selling Nordic Picks as a rare item after you help out the Skaal, otherwise the only one you'll get from him is the one he lets you keep. The Skaal blacksmith should also sell them at a more common rate.
Unmodded.
