I hire him for 500 gold as a follower, take him to Goldenhills, hire him as my Steward.
He's great. He's also a great protector. Powerful mage.
I have switched Stewards or even accidentally dismissed them. Hiring is easy. But I always use NPCs from the vanilla game and of course not NPCs that are related to other quests.
He was close enough to help defend against the Dragon that attacked my Farm though so he still gets some action in even if he is not on my adventure.
I was annoyed, because I saw that Erik had better stats in light armor than in heavy; so I made him a set of the Scout Leather armor. He wore it until I left and reloaded the cell, and now he is back in his garbage iron armor.
Is there a mod to stop NPC's from using their default armor; and is it compatible with the AE upgrade?

I wonder if that is a similar mechanic to the fact that whenever I leave Faendal and he is back at home, he wears whatever he had before until i get him to travel with me again.
I have other stewards for my houses based on who the housecarl is, because they have to live together.
