Why Bethesda don't you allow steam workshop?
See, here's the deal. Once upon a time, I used to obtain my games in a less ethical manner.
Indeed, I had already completed Skyrim prior to buying on steam.

In fact, it was Skyrim + Steam that convinced me to leave behind the dark side. Now I have a massive steam collection, including games I've never played but were on sale at Humble Bundle + Steam Sales.

Why? Convenience more than anything.

Patching for one. With a game like Skyrim, it needs lots of patches. A big hassle if you're not fully ethical.

And Mods! How easy is it to simply select the mods via the workshop.

And it was the mods what swung the vote.

Now Bethesda, you want me to use your method and not the steam workshop.

I've tried your method on Fallout 4, and it sucks, big time.

So either you buck up your game, or leave it to the professionals.

At least give us Steamworkshop support on Skyrim SE.

Pretty please.

Yours,

A convert from the darkside of the net.

Bethesda made their own Workshop to deal with console mods. PC mods are mostly distributed through Skyrim Nexus and (for those, who are brave) Skyrim workshop in Steam.

Last time Bethesda visited the Skyrim Workshop it got messed up. I am unsure, if it was something that Bethesda did, or did they just managed to wake up a bug that was already in the code.

Skyrim Workshop has been loosing mod data since early 2015. Problem does not affect all players. It can come out of nowhere to any player, despite how long they have been using Workshop - or never used it before - and it has a high change to become persistent.

For PC games, I would recommend moving to Skyrim Nexus. Installing mods through mod manager is really not any more complex than subscribing to mods from Skyrim Workshop.

Yeah. The only problem is updating mods, but as long as you use the nexus mod manager it's way better.

I use mod organizer and it was a steep learning curve but now i can use it with my eyes closed.

So question.. I have been using the Steam Workshop for modding Skyrim. It has only been five or so days since I got the game. (I had previously owned on PS3, but with the SE coming out, I figured it was worth it to try out mods and such.) If I wanted to switch to the Nexus, would I have to unsubscribe from all the mods on the Steam Workshop and redownload them on the Nexus? Would that cause any problems with my current save file?

Shame development for MO is dead. The developer joined the Nexus team, he will be working on the NMM (and by that, I mean the replacement for NMM, whatever they plan on calling it).

As long as you have all of the same mods, and have them loading in the same order, the game won't care where you get them.

But yes, it's highly recommended you unsubscribe and get them from nexus instead.

The OP doesn't have Skyrim on Steam.

B1ade has main game + all 3 gameplay DLCs. We are in SE forum. Owner icons are not active here, because the game is not yet released.
