I believe it was 1.6.353
Honestly though, the reality seemed to be that the only way to ensure 100% that your game retained it's full 1.6.353 version was if you had made a backup of your entire Skyrim Special Edition folder prior to that update.
If the issue is stemming from the fact that the update(s) altered game files AA uses, and these various downgraders you’re using only replace the .exe - that could be your issue.
You would need a completely untouched game folder from 1.6.353 AND you’d have to make sure any other mods you’re trying to use haven’t been updated to run with 1.6.640
Also, which version of AA are you using?
The original version that hasn’t been touched since 2020 or the DAR version?
Looking at the patches, I’m gonna guess the original?
Have you been playing with it for awhile and it just stopped working? Or did you just recently try it and found it not functioning?
If you effectively rolled back all your game files to 1.6.353 you could try using the DAR version instead, that’s what I was using and it worked fine on version 1.6.353
Cant use the DAR version yet on the newest update as DAR needs to be updated.
Did you recently download any new mods that would’ve touched combat animations?
Just keep in mind that if you are using the original version, you’re using an outdated and unsupported version. The mod maker moved on to the DAR version and he will unlikely update his original one to function correctly with the newest version of the game.
DAR needs to be updated, huh? Maybe that's it. I'll wait for the update, see if that works. However, I'm not using the most up-to-date version of DAR Animated Armoury - I tried it a while back, but it made literally every sword in the game have katana animations.
I don’t know exactly what various ways you’ve tried to roll back your back to 1.6.353, but AA was working for me just fine prior to the recent updates.
I really don’t know what to tell you other than you’ll have to wait until DAR gets updated.
