where to buy Steel Bolts.

Sorine in Dawnguard should seel them, I don't remember if they show up in any normal stores. Tree Fletcher in solitude might sell some too.

The fletcher only has them with crossbow pack from AE or separate.

The Fletcher in Solitude sells them. And some other types, with more damage. Then again, I have the Crossbow pack from the CC.

Love Fletcher's I got my crossbow from a quest but getting low on bolts because I like it better then the bow. One final Question any bolt with work with any crossbow?

Yes any bolts work with any crossbow just like arrows with bows.

They are great. But do have their disadvantages. Bows are quieter. When enemies are attacking you up close, bows are better, because you have to deal with the reload animation before you can shoot with crossbows.

But I have found crossbow's being fully loaded to fire, also has it's advantages. The crossbow's bolt speed seems to be faster. So timing of hitting a moving target works better........for me at least.

If you side with the Dawnguard, you can do a quest chain which will give you access to exploding bolts, Fire, ice and shock. And the best crossbow from them, the Enhanced one, ignores 50% of the target's armor.

I did side with the Dawnguard. but all I got was the steel one I think I remember something about if I need more to see him or her. There was something about using her blood but I thought that was for the arrows that came with the bow. But It was sometime ago. If I remember right I got the crossbow a few quest before I got the bow to kill her father. Side note I'm thinking of getting her mom and bringing her home but Can I leave S (whats her name) I Did not take her as a follower as I have 5 now. They just grew on me.

You can get the Better Crossbows earlier than that, you just have to do the quests for it, and you don't need the bow either, just makes that fight easier.

I don't know if you need to bring Serana to rescue her mom, I don't really see why you would need to. You could just to be safe then dismiss her afterwords.

The Blood you get from Serana or Gelebor are only for special arrows that work with Auriel's Bow, they don't have bolts.

Crossbows never have the floppy boltsas the Bows have floppy arrows. (Arrows that just plopp down in front of you). And i find it easier to aim with crossbows because the flight is always the same where bows seem to vary a bit more.

You need to do the quest chain from the gal working at the smith inside the Dawnguard stronghold to get the Dwarven Enhanced Crossbow and the exploding bolts. Select " any help I can do for you " or something along those lines.
