If you're getting 40 that sounds about right.
They are notorious for it.
eFPS - Exterior FPS boost

eFPS - Official Patch Hub

eFPS - Anniversary Edition

I am using this as well, to try to fix a strange infinite loading screen that happens only when I fast travel to Whiterun, weird bug...
Thanks, I will try these
eFPS is good.
Use lighter trees mod, such as Enhanced Vanilla Trees. [www.nexusmods.com]
Use lighter grass mod, such as Northern Grass [www.nexusmods.com] or/and Cathedral Landscapes. [www.nexusmods.com] You can combine the two using Northern Cathedral Grass [www.nexusmods.com] patch.
Use less dense grass by tweaking iMinGrassSize to something like 50, 60 or 70. The higher the number, the lower the grass density and the more FPS you will gain. Cathedral Landscapes has its own provided INI for that.
Use No Grassias [www.nexusmods.com] to get rid of grass patches where there shouldn't be any, increasing performance.
Use Landscape Fixes for Grass Mods [www.nexusmods.com] for the same reason.
If you use DynDOLOD, pick a lighter preset especially for tree LODs. I personally don't see the point in ultra trees rather than killing performance for little to no visual difference.
If you're using city overhaul mods like JK's Skyrim, then nothing will help you I'm afraid.
If you're really into it, you could try generating grass cache using No Grass in Objects. [www.nexusmods.com] Doing that may potentially increase performance since all grass will be pre-cached.
Yeah, and ENB is performance hungry on top of that.
Yeah, and any AI overhaul mods decrease performance since this poor engine can't keep up with calculating their AI package all at once.
Yeah, and mods that increase the number of triangles and draw calls will make your game suffer, too. *cough* 3D Trees and High Poly Project *cough*

Thanks for the tips =)
