Question for guys who play female character in Skyrim
Do you choose husband for your female character, if yes, don’t you feel that a bit weard?
Or you just either ignore marriage/make lesbian couple?
It is not that weird in games in general. F.e. in Dragon Age origins my top2 character (after ofc Cusland male warrior romancing Morrigan who is still my only canon after all these years) was female human Mage who romanced Alistair and Alistair sacrificed himself in the end denying my orders and will to do it myself (Literally said “You think I will let you do this?” And Charged archdemon).
I felt nothing weird, it was actually funny experience. But I don’t know why in Skyrim I feel it not fitting playing fem as guy and marrying males.
Anyone with same feelings?

Nothing odd about it.

I used to play as a male back in the PS3 days, but eventually decided to try out a female character. Been playing only females ever since.

So I apply the same to marriage in games. Play as a female, marry a male. Nothing wrong here. It's not like I have any actual feelings for them, I just don't imagine my character to be a lesbian.

Depends entirely on the Character I am playing. The character will tell you what they want. In other words sometimes yes and sometimes no and sometimes no marriage at all.

Who has time for marriage? The world isn't going to save itself.

im about 50/50 on male to female characters. both cases i tend to go female romance options or no romance.

I think Alister in dragon age origins and carth onasi in kotor are the only time i went for a male love interest.

I play F and married F and my followers are all F. I don't think about it but it just makes sense too me. I'm Less then an hour in Fallout 4 but I play F there also.

Well due to fallout 4's god awful male voice actor female is the only way to play without a headache or volume at zero

KOTOR has a bit different model of character relationship. In kotor Carth and Bastila reveal themselves fully only if you are different gender and romancing them, otherwise they are hugely cut from all their character potential. Normally in rpg you reveal characters fully even as same gender friends.

I think I did the marriage thing once, on my OG character that was a dude, for the achievement, and never again.

All Dovakiin since have been Bachelor/ Bachelorette's for life (even if they had a couple really good friends).

I play females for mage builds sometimes. When I used to get married I never thought twice about just marrying females. It's all a game. IRL I never turn into a vampire and murder people to necro-feed on their corpse, (very often), but it just comes natural in Skyrim.

All my characters have backstories, and it depends on what I set up for them, I don't feel weird playing as a female and marrying a male if that's what said character would do.

I play a male character sometimes and sometimes a female character and I don't marry often in Skyrim however when I do I always choose a female partner. When the marraige thing was new I had to try it a time or 2 but not so much after that.

Don't care about marriage in Skyrim, it's bland, useless and as a challenge runner i only care about efficiency and effect. Yeah you can get some money out of it, but to be fair, who cares about those scraps. For efficiency i play a female character to get the 20% extra damage boost against pretty much every powerful enemy in the game.

When it comes to single-player games, i almost always pick a male character.

I like to RP my characters as ME, as if everything was real. I try to make the choices i would actually make in a given situation and even flesh out storylines in my head to justify certain "evil" actions. (Like how could i join the dark brotherhood or the thieve's guild).

And since i'm male IRL, i have to pick a male character in game.

That said, if i have played a game multiple times and want to try something different (A new playstyle), then i create a mental image of a character in my mind and treat the game as if i'm watching a historical documentary / movie about somebody elses life. I make all decisions as that character would.

On more than one occasion, that character has been female. (I did an anti-magic female warrior in dragon age origins for example). When I play a game in this manner, i have no qualms about marrying a male character as it's not actually me doing it. I'm "watching a video" about somebody elses life, after all.

This.+1. But not knocking those who want to play as a female char when they are a male in RL. Or the other way. It's just not something I would do. My son plays a female at times and I never criticize him for it.
