So you would have to talk to Aela to become a werewolf again.
This is not the case however when you get vampirism, than you can still go back to being a werewolf without any problems.
To rephrase my question: Can you use the ring if you remove Lycanthropy on a different way than the permanent companion cure? Like with commands or the vampire methode.
And the ring only works for werewolves, so you would need to speak to Aela to become a Werewolf again.
The companion cure is not permanent, Aela will always allow you to become a werewolf a second time. but she refuses to to it again after that, I assume to prevent you from being locked in as a werewolf because there are a limited number of witch heads and this quest was made far before Dawnguard and Vampire lord with no other way to cure it.
Either way the ring only effects werewolves so you can only use it as a werewolf.
