Some help for Skyrim motion sickness in first person view
I have found MANY complaints about this online, but Bethesda has done nothing about it. I've also found no EASY way to fix this, even with mods.

There needs to be a setting added to COMPLETELY remove all camera sway, (swinging/switching weapons), and head bobbing effects, (walking/running, etc) from first-person view mode, because there are a number of players who get motion sickness from these effects... Myself included.

I bought this game, and can only play it for maybe 10 or so minutes, before these effects begin to make me feel sick. In all other games that I've personally played where these effects are present, there has always been an option to turn them off, but this is not the case with Skyrim.

FOV has also been attributed to motion sickness, but i see no options to change that either.

Bethesda is *really* slacking when it comes to this, and it will continue to push away those who can't play with these effects turned on, until this is fixed. I really like this game, and want to be able to play it for more than a few minutes at a time.

For FOV you should hit the tilde key [below esc, tough the console key could be diferent depending on keyboard] and type fov 90 or something, as for swaying, i don't believe they would adress it even if they wanted to.

Camera movement can be addressed. It has something to do with the animations. Such a setting could just change which animation files are used for walking and running, while in first person mode. There are mods that come close, but they require a number of confusing steps.

i looked at that link you provided, but noticed from comments that it too requires some confusing steps, and isn't gauranteed to work, based on videos, and comments there.

also FOV changes using the console don't stick between sessions

Is it too hard for you to just open a console and push, here 1 2 3, 7 buttons, sorry 8 including tilde key.

Messing with the console (at all) every single session vs a setting that makes the change once? I'll take a setting any day.

Documents > My Games > Skyrim Special Edition > Skyrim.ini > [Display] > fDefaultWorldFOV=x.x

A setting could be added to make that change. ini setting courtesy of

If you get motion sickness in first person, then switch to third person.

Switching to 3rd person takes a lot away from the immersion that makes me want to play this game.

I went through the complication of setting up the above mod, and making the change to the ini file, which resolved my motion sickness problem, and allows me to enjoy this game.

I'm pretty tech savvy, so what I did was more of a nuisance than anything, but the point of this was that people who are not so tech savvy won't know how, or even want to risk making these changes, for fear of screwing something up... or they will try, and ultimately screw something up.

Wait a min, are you talk about Skyrim VR, not Skyrim Special Edition non-vr? Way OP wrote, it's like OP talking about Skyrim VR, not Skyrim Special Edition or normal version skyrim. Game wasn't design for VR even they did upgrade to VR because basic of foundian it's design for normal computer without VR.

Of course, we have to pay again, for a game we own, on the same platform too.

One of the reasons why I began to play Skyrim, was because I had motion sickness when playing other games. lol

I think you'll eventually get over it after 1 week of so, by switching between 3rd and 1st person view.

Changing a game to run on VR costs money, so of course they will charge.
Now I'll admit that there should be a discount if you own Skyrim SE, but VR isn't exactly cheap to begin with, so people who can afford it are probably not going to baulk at the cost.

Nice well, Payday 2 offers VR free, now sure its kinda an old game, and now wont get updated anymore and so on, and before that it had ton of dlc, but you can't say Bethesda can't afford with all the popular games they got that still somewhat get sold free VR.

With the technical brilliance which bethesda showed with FO76, I think in this case its better to not mix and match VR and non-VR :steammocking:
