Console command to level up?
Apologies for the noob question, but is there not a console command to straight up level up and gain a skill point? Or can I only use the add perk command? Thanks in advance.

Console commands are a developer's tool - not a game play aid. Improper use of the console is one of the main causes of the game breaking - we see it all the time in the forums. See:

Sure, but you can still just answer the question in addition to what you said. It's up to them if they mess their game up.

It is up to responsible and reliable forum regulars to give accurate, reliable information and not to provide or pass along dangerous and game breaking information - and then pass the buck by say something as irresponsible as "It's up to them if they mess their game up."

I said what you said is fine, but you can still answer questions posed on the forum. Of course give warnings, thats true, but people ask questions on forums, seems pretty simple. They don't come to /just/ hear about a moral crusade about what they should or shouldn't be doing in the game

I know what console commands are, I've been PC gaming and modding games for over 20 years. Thanks.

Point stands though, doesn't matter if Iit involves melodrama. I can use different phrasing if you like then, just for you. Let's say, they don't come here to /just/ hear about what you should or shouldn't be doing in a game.

I was after a straight up "level up" command, not a direct skill level up, but this one will do have to do. I was just being nice and thanking him for the effort of actually helping, unlike you.

If they need to ask, then they need to be told about the dangers.
If they then accept the dangers I personally give them the information, but not before they have had a chance to think about the risks.

Yeah that's completely fine. I've said that doing that is cool
