Better cows please
For the love of god is there any mod out there that makes the cows of Skyrim look like real cows instead of a four legged cousin It from the Adams Family? I have searched Nexus and Steam but none to be found. Its a small matter but it bugs me.

Try out one of these:
* Better Cows[www.nexusmods.com]
* Bellyaches Animal and Creature Pack SSE[www.nexusmods.com]

The Bellyaches one looks good. Cows stil need a little work to look normal. Most domesticated cattle don't have the horns here in North America.

If you know your way around the NifOptimiser, you could just use this remesh/retexture mod from LE:

Keep in mind Skyrim is a very cold climate. The indigenous cows will have developed that "woolly mammoth" pelt to keep warm.

I like the cows from the mod link. Unfortunately I am unfamiliar with the NifOptimizer tool. Perhaps I can get my son to figure it out. He's pretty good with that stuff.

Cows still need a little work to look normal? This isn't Earth, it's a fictional world... why project what our Earth cows look like onto this game? Makes no sense to me. I mean if one just doesn't like the design of the animal, for whatever reason, and wants something cooler then that's great. But framing this like the cows are somehow abnormal or wrong?

They're not modern cows.

Look up "Highland Cattle".

Most of all the animals in this game are normal looking animals like the ones in real life with the exception of the fictitious creatures. I do not project anything. I see a normal chicken. I see a normal Elk. I see and normal Horse. If the cow was pre-historic, I could understand that. Like the Mammoth. As you can see, someone has posted a helpful comment about Highland Cattle. That is helpful. Your comment is useless and a waste of my time.

The highland cattle angle is interesting. Does that mean the Nords are Scottish?

While I was expecting a resemblance with an actual animal like pointed (highland cattle), the cows of skyrim really look like "unfinished business". The texture and interactiveness with them is very limited. The dogs are also very troublesome, and I also miss actual cats from the game... Cold regions can have quite the furryful cats! :)

Well the game is 7 years old now. It's not going to be up to snuff when compared to new games... especially since it was behind the times in comparison when it was released in the first place.

Claiming most animals look "normal" continues to ignore that this is a fictional world. That this salient point eludes you is tiresome. Enjoy your game and your cows as you see fit... as I already said.

And for next time... if you find a comment like mine that you think is a waste of your time, then perhaps you should own that view with conviction and... I dunno?... don't respond?

Even if you should use one "normal" cow, are it not like 2000 different cow races?
They look wery different depending where you live.

Yup. OP couldn't think outside of their bubble though.
