Exactly this. Controller sucks balls.
No reason not to use controller in this scenario. Full keyboard access while using controller. So ~ is available.
Keyboard would be great if more of the buttons had functions for things like casting with your free hand while carrying a bow, without needing SkyUI and/or a Favorites type of system. 104 keys should give you at least 98 separate functions.
As well, I'm a guitarist since 1986, so I can't hold my hands on a KB for as long as I can a controller - I need them rotated in and up.
1. In TES you need to pick stuff. Lots of stuff. Coins, gems, weapons, armors, potions, grasses, butterflies, etc, etc. Using controller to do this will be a chore. A complete waste of time I'd say. Especially if you want to pick small things like gems or coins.
2. You need to aim with your bows, spells and melee weapons. Unless you want to fight with air, there is no reason for choosing a gamepad over kb/m.
3. Some animations are broken. When you use left stick in sneak mode at certain speeds at ~45degree angle both your legs will make steps at the same time. Looks very immpersive.
4. Hotkeys.
Skyrim is way more confortable on a controller, simple, aside aiming AND managing the inventory, aiming isnt that important, the problem is the inventory that with SkyUi is just much better but on controller it is lacking in options, like sorting out.
Also sneaking and lockpicking, 2 very important gameplay features for me, are just much better on the X1 controller, since with the analogic you can move more smoothly while sneak, ing if you try KB, good luck pressing to move, and actually manage to sneak (and no I dont want to press an extra key to slow me down), analogic being case sensitive = helps alot!
On lockpicking it is even more important, KB isnt case sensitive, at least not with my average KB, and using a controller (having played all previous bethesda games, and having 200 hours of skyrim on ps3) lockpicing is just much better, since you can actually take it slow and try to realize where you should have the pin.
The only reason I could see myself using controller for navigation would be to auto run, but unlike PUBG, when on menu, it pauses your game... and also hotkeys.
No side has the upmost advantage, but gameplay wise a controller is just more confortable, and being able to take the best out of both, would be great.
I have played through TW2 and TW3 like this and it was awesome.
