Skyrim super slow to download?

so today I decided to download Skyrim, and after 4 hours of freeing up space (I had 5 gigs left and needed 10 for the game) I finally could start the download. Now, I live out of town with average wifi but not too much of it. I dont know basically anything about RAM and stuff like that, (i do know stuff still but only not complicated stuff) And I live with a family that uses the same wifi as the one im downloading this on. I finally started the download, and at the start it said only 60 KB/sec. I thought it was just the download starting up and that it would go at MB/sec soon. After 5-10 minutes the peak hieght of the download was 209 KB/sec. Im super confused with a windows 10 computer (not sure about the specs but it is in the requirements for the game) and just want to play this amazing game. I have to stop the download now because its slowing down the wifi, but I can download it while im at school. I did change the download area to a city closer to me but that did not change a thing. please help.

Welcome to bad internet; I average 60-200 KPS too; so when you do manage to get Skyrim downloaded be sure to make a backup BEFORE you start experimenting with mods because as you learn how to mod you WILL have to uninstall and reinstall multiple times.

Your ISP may be throttling your download in order to preserve bandwidth for other customers, or your router is woefully underpowered/slowly dying and can't handle the workload you're putting through it.

The question for me is this:

to what extent can a person actually live in this mistaken belief that the download speed is related to a video game? It's like a video game slowing down the speed of the Internet. Yeah, sure...

The first logical step would be to check the speed with another downloader or a speed test. If this is too much work or exceeds the skills of OP, a faster provider would be appropriate.
