Honed metal
Hi guys, so, I read that there's this interesting mod, Honed Metal, that I wanna try out, but I also heard that a lot of people are having trouble with SKSE (which is a requirement from what I understood), so: can a kind soul guide me through this? Thanks in advance.

Download from Current SE build 2.0.7 (runtime 1.5.39). Drag and drop the .zip contents into C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition (or whatever your folder for the game is). Click yes on merge folders and replace files etc. Run Skyrim EXCLUSIVELY though skse64_loader.exe. Be sure to disable auto-update for the game, as Script Extender will break if you have a newer version of the game.

Ok, thank you for your answer but how do I disable auto-updates?

You can't disable them entirely ... BUT what you can do is set your game to only update while playing (under the properities tab as I recall) and then only launch it from your SKSE icon (which you have to do anyways to use SKSE).

Alright, so it won't update if I do that? And what happens if the game gets updated? Sorry to bother you guys, I just wanna understand this.

indeed due the fact you start with skse it will not update and if you're ready ... I mean skse is ready and the mods you just start the conventional launcher and it updates after that just quit and install the new skse and mods.

No, it won't update if you do that; however what happens is that SKSE has a "fail safe" built in so it only runs with a certain exe, so when a patch changes the game files; SKSE simply refuses to run.

Sì if the game gets updated I basically lose Skse64 and any other mode that requires it, right? Thank you for your time. :)

Yup; which is why you should make a backup of your skyrim.exe
