Passive the best was like wheat for the easy return, planting all wheat. harvest and collect from the pantry then sell it to a farmer in the village. Think it came out to like 500-700 gold a day.
There was a couple others where the alchemy route could bring in several thousand with having to figure out the right mix, with the main bottleneck being the travel to multiple vendors to sell off the potions.
But planting crops in general might be the better passive route, since you can sell the crops you don't need/want with minor travel.
Me: I plant some wheat, blisterwort and blue flowers for healing potions (with a fortify healing boost too)
I bought all the upgrades for the farm and then the farm hand glitched and I could not buy any animals. However, the secret door was still there.
