How can Lydia equip the armor pieces that I give her?

How can I get Lydia, my follower, to equip the armor pieces I give her?

She only equips the helmet and weapon.

I think followers only "auto" equip armor that has better armor rating/weight ratio than what they have already.

That or use a mod to force-equip apparel/weapons and save them to the outfit.

I tried this gave her like 6 different sets and she doesn't want to equip them, only the helmet and weapon.

Her base model I think doesn't have a helmet

As said you need to give her armor better than her own, and Lydia is a a warrior class, meaning she has high Heavy Armor skill, so if you're giving her light armor she likely won't wear it due to the low armor rating.

There are Mods and Console Commands to get around that however. I use AFT which has an outfit manager, lets you customize what they equip for both armor and weapons.
