Best weather mods....?
So just a quick one.

Vivid weathers I appreciate for the varied weathers and lighting and skyboxes.

But for some reason it looks kind of flat.

I went back to Vanilla weathers tonight and I was struck by how sharper the game looked and how better the lighting seemed to be, more god rays evident etc.

I am now tempted to go back to the classic True Storms. My only beef with the vanilla weathers is the Skyboxes lack variety.

But just wondered others thoughts on this....?

I use Obsidian Weathers and Seasons, easily my favorite weather mod, even without enb it looks pretty good
I think Climates Of Tamriel and Sounds of Skyrim is a good combo. The sound is also important! Its the once I use currently. (there is a SoS_CoT_Patch so they work together? that I use)
Obsidian Weathers and Seasons along with Re Engaged ENB for Obsidian Weathers.

Re Engaged has the weather support for Obsidian of course using the added requirements.

My favorite setup
I'd say watch one or both of these videos. Always helps me decide based on the look i'm going for "this time around"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BznwjUivveo

They do a great job with one by one comparison. And the first video is even sorted by weather type. Rainy and snowy weathers, for example, were very important to me and i was able to jump straight to them if desired.

As for personal preference. I like dolomite. But i also adjust my brightness settings a bit as i use darker dungeon mods (ELFX hardcore). so the appearance is a bit different than the video.
I tried many of these, and yes, Vanilla still kills it.

The problem with all these mods, is that they are trying to replicate our version of lighting that is coming from SOL within the SOL system. However, the world of Elder Scrols known as Nirn, has only one similarity to SOL, which is singular star while everything else is very different. Which is why any changes to lights always feels out of place to me. We don't have huge moon that is in front of our planet and is so big that it take about 1/5 of your view of the sky. This is also the reason why Nirn can't be so dark, as it usually really dark at night in every mod i've ever seen, and it's dark for absolutely no reason. And then you add ENB, and it's barely even possible to play at night ever since.

Vanilla is well balanced in it's lights and what is even more important, the lighting considers that we are not on Earth, but in some magical world with a huge moon in the sky, so it's supposed to have some unique light sheme, don't you think?

Yeah…. Vanilla seemed to create something far more dynamic, lighting wise.

Vivid, which I like, tonally makes everything look flat/muddy and less sharp…
But nice rain, nice variety of weathers.

As for the rest, CoT was ok, but the same effect, makes things look less sharp overall. Also, did not like the rain, very distinct blue lines with little variation, it looked fake.

True Storms was always my go to. Really great variety of storms, and …. It just worked!
My favorite so far is Obsidian. It's the only mod I've tried that makes the game look normal, removing the daytime yellow cast and the overly bright, nighttime blueish cast.
Interesting. Has good storms? interior sounds?

Obsidian ( https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/12125 ) is good - it is what you see in all my screenshots (I also use an ENB - Intrigued ENB - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/18149 ).

In addition, to Obsidian, I also use:
Storm Lightning for SSE and VR (Minty Lightning 2019) - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/29243

Supreme and Volumetric Fog SE - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/23431

Morning Fogs SSE - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/21436

Wonders of Weather - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/13044

and for the night sky:
ETHEREAL COSMOS - Special Edition - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/5728

Skygazer Moons SSE - Masser and Secunda HD Textures - WITH GLOW - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/32057

I just swapped from Obsidian to Cathedral. Cathedral looks better with my ENB.
i can recomend Vivid weathers
Unpopular, but I've been using ELFX Weathers since forever pared with True Storms and a few patches that make them play nicely together. However, several additional weather conditions added by ELFX are very performance hungry, so I had to remove them.
