Keyboard Not Working... Again.
(Accidentally posted this on the Skyrim discussion while I play on SSE)
Hello everyone.
I know a lot of solution exist on the inrernet, but I tried everything... As the title says, my keyboard suddenly stopped working as I was playing. By "stopped working", i mean i cannot move, i cannot open menus, including esc, tab, etc. but the only thing working is the ² key to open the command (keyboard works in the command). My mouse also works. Note that I play with mods, and it perfectly worked before (the bug didn't appear after the installation of a certain mod, it just appeared suddenly).

Here is what I tried and didn't work :
- Fixing the gamepad thing in SkyrimPrefs
- Disabling my mods
- Disabling Steam Overlay
- Closing all the apps on my computer except SSE
- Rebooting my computer
- Simply unplugging my keyboard
- "enableplayercontrols" in the command
...

I cannot try to uninstall and reinstall SSE now due to internet issues (currently writing from my phone), so I hope its not the only solution.
I've read several posts trying to find a solution, and none of them helped me so I take every advice you guys have because I JUST WANT TO PLAY. I hope someone will help me, thank you in advance.

Don’t look towards the game or Steam as to the problem, this is a hardware issue.

For me it was interference from the case with the wireless receiver for the mouse and keyboard.

I put a 6 inch shielded USB cable on computer, then hung it away from my case and all is fine now.

Your post wasn’t clear if you meant yours is a cable or receiver you unplugged and moved.

So, there is an issue with SSE atm where the game defaults to a controller (whether one is installed or not) and you lose the ability to use the keyboard. This happens when you are not connected to bethesda.net.

When you launch skyrim, it automatically connects to bethesda. However, if you lose that connection (Via bad internet) the keyboard will stop working. For example, my internet just died for 5 minutes and i could not play for this exact reason. The loss of internet caused the keyboard to stop working.

As far as i know, there is no solution to this issue at the moment. You cannot play skyrim without internet access (Or you will need a controller). If the internet is patchy (connects and disconnects here and there) you could try logging into the bethesda launcher and leaving it running in the background. This can bypass the issue for a short time while you reconnect.

But i'm afraid if you're completely offline / no-internet, there is no solution that i know of atm other than to use a controller.

Bro, thank you so much.
This is not helping me directly because, well, there is no solution to my problem, but man thank you! Now I at least know what is happening. You're by far the best help I got. Much love to you and to your family. May you have a wonderful year, and a wonderful life.
