SSELODGen output - HELP
Ok, I downloaded SSELODGen > https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/6642

openend the zip file, ran the lodgen.exe, did my settings and clicked generated. After a few minutes it was finished, but then nothing? No idea where the files are? I went in game I noticed it didn't worked perfect, trees etc weren't showing, or appeared real late.

I did some research and saw (if im correct) the files are at Data>textures>terrain, and Data>meshes>terrain. I deleted all those, is this the correct way?

No, that is not the correct way. You have broken your game and you need to verify the integrity of game files to restore the textures and meshes that you deleted.

Then, configure xLODGen to run from within your mod manager. This is critical.

Then download and install one of the terrain resource files from here[www.nexusmods.com]. It doesn't really matter which one, I use the biggest.

Note that the resource file is temporary and will be removed after terrain generation.

Configure xLODGen LOD4, 8, 16, and 32 for your machine. Every install is different so my settings probably won't make sense for you. See the S.T.E.P. forums for optimum settings to use as a starting point.

[edit] For reference, these are the settings I use:

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2639378342
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2639378321

Run xLODGen from within your mod manager. The output will be in the Overwrite folder when it is done. Create a mod from the Overwrite folder and name it "Terrain LOD Output" or something that makes sense to you. Activate this mod.

Remove the terrain resource file mod.

All done. Terrain LOD generation has a minimal effect on the visuals in game. It is noticeable but you may have to look closely to see the detail changes.

Ah sweet, I really wasn't sure if any Vortex mod files were located in the main Skyrim folder. Thanks for the confirmation :D
Just take a peak inside your data folder and make sure everything is there.

or you can even simply hit the "Deploy" button in Vortex and if it does not throw a fit you should be good.
Will do, thank you Vlad and HazakTheMad.

Does DynDOLOD adds tree and object lods? And what about mountains and terrain? Can I also do only objects?

Yes, Dyndolod does tree and object LOD. The latest alpha seems quite stable and is even easier to use than before. It's down to a couple mouse-clicks now. Virtually fool-proof. For people who don't mind a little more complexity, you can generate grass in your LODs now. That requires No Grass in Objects, which doesn't work with 1.6.x yet.

For terrain LOD, you still need xlodgen. One of these days, I'll do some before and after pics of all this stuff, ranging from 2560x1440 to 3840x2160. I've got access to a few more monitors now. But here's something that might help:

That's with Dyndolod and Texgen set to 1440p. xlodgen was more-or-less set to whatever STEP recommended.[stepmodifications.org]

You mean Dyndolod 3? If so, I tried that... is the installation now almost the same as Dyndolod 2? I tried 3 but it gave errors about my installed mods, really annoying, I stopped it.

Yeah, I used the latest Dyndolod 3 alpha. The installation and setup are easy. You don't need to mess around with billboards any more. Texgen will generate the necessary files. It helps to read through the official website.[dyndolod.info] That way, you won't forget to install one of the required mods, such as Dyndolod Resources, or try to use obsoleted mods, such as tree billboards.

In my screenshots, I have Tamrielic Textures overwriting Dyndolod Resources. Sheson says you're generally not supposed to do that, though. This is one of those things where I need to do screenshot comparisons to see what's happening. Dyndolod's output is overwriting everything else, though, of course.
