Bthardamz is a TERRIBLE dungeon!
So I just did the Peryite quest, The Only Cure. It's the usual go here and kill this guy quest.

Wow! Is this dungeon one HUGE empty mess. It's like they spent a year designing it and 30 minutes populating it with interesting decor and loot.

Enemies are sparse, seem randomly placed and uninteresting.

There are hardly any chests and they are mismatched for no reason. Some Dwemer, some wood.

I don't think I found on piece of dwemer scrap except what I looted from dwemer spiders and such.

Most dwemer ruins are somewhat interesting and have you think about what this area was for when the dwemer were alive. This ruin seemed like a dwemer architect student's class project. Add all the features you learned this year into one design and hand it in at the end of the year.

I must have had around 40 playthroughs and I've never done this quest before. Now I'm glad I never did.

The point is the Afflicted have been there for some time, the wooden chests are theirs, and they probably have recycled any Dwemer scrap..... The Dwemer Spiders should have been cleared out by them though....

The problem for me is that the layout is just a long tunnel with no real turnoffs.

I just hate the green radioactive vats. Way too Fallout and not enough Skyrim.

Leaving aside the idea of a 'god' being unable to kill anyone without the help of a mortal, while the ruin is somewhat bare, there's enough loot to satisfy a Ferengi.
And why are these Afflicted hiding while others walk around freely? Clearly Peryite wanted them there because they got through the enchanted entrance. Orthenor convinced the other Afflicted that their disease was a blessing and not a curse yet the end result is that everyone gets slaughtered just to get to him.
I've only done that quest a couple of times because it's somewhat boring.

Yeah this is not a quest that I so much as start as rule. This time I've even gone out of my way to avoid the Afflicted that's trying to 'commune' with Peryite (or whatever he says) as soon as I see him coming.

I'm willing to do it because the shield is great, particularly against Dragons, but at this point I consider it a pacifist quest - the worshipers are conflicted anyway, let them work it out.

Don't particularly consider it boring though, just an area where a lot of people live. Spell breaker is awesome though.

Yes there is that. Nice to have if you're collecting or displaying as well

The Daedra aren't quite gods. They're very powerful, but their influence into another sphere of reality is very limited and extremely difficult even for them.

If you're in their little section of Oblivion, however, then they can shred you with a single thought.

Or steal your soul and throw it in the ever refilling chamber pot, or so I have heard.

Daedra are gods.

In TES both the Daedra and the Aedra are defined as Gods, being immortal and powerful to mortals. The Aedra invested much of their strength in creation and are now killable, but other than that are essentially the same thing.

The reason Peryite can't kill directly is that he is relatively weak, although still stronger than a mortal, and if he ventured into the Mundas could be temporarily slain, and he doesn't want to have to reform in the fires of Oblivion.

The Clavicus Vile quest is more inexplicable, even weakened he should be strong enough to manifest wherever and whenever he likes....

For ole Clavicus, I thought it was because barbus is a part of him, like a separate half with its own powers.

I just find it funny at this point. Bring a companion, resurrect them, use summons and let the green puke fly. Have fun with it.

Clavicus Vile is not a Daedra God he's the Daedric Prince of wishes and trickery.
gnewna Dec 23, 2021 @ 3:21am
Daedric Princes are gods. They're the specific Daedra (as opposed to all the many types of lesser Daedra such as Dremora, Atronachs, Golden Saints and whatever gets turned into bound weapons) which are defined as gods.

Yes, but even split in two with a good chunk of his power missing he should have been able to manifest elsewhere, just weaker....

Daedra are as much gods in the TES universe as the Aedra.... they are powerful immortal spirits with well defined portfolios, what more do you need to be called a god....

Although the trickery bit might apply, maybe he could manifest elsewhere, and he was just fooling us...

Yeah, but Peryite did manage to create and inflict the disease on Breton villagers and recruit a leader for them. That Peryite can't create a fatal disease to kill the dude is a head scratcher.
