Dawnstar Museum/Silus Vesuius' house Crash

Today, just after the new update (not sure it's connected to that) whenever I enter Silus Vesuius' house/museum, Skyrim crashes. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I'm playing the Skyrim Anniversary Edition with no mods. Any ideas? Over 1,000 hours and never had anything like this happen before.

EDIT: Looks like this is a known bug/problem. Waiting for a fix from Bethesda.

You have the upgrade of all the CC content package? Because the game is only SSE - there is no other. AE is just the optional purchasable upgrade. Still, whether you have SSE or SSE with the upgrade, the update to the game today was some bug fixes, as listed at the top of the pinned topic Helpful Links and References - it shouldn't have any negative impact on the game. However, it is possible that something got borked in the update - but we won't know that unless we see other reports of an issue. It may be a coincidence, or it may not. For now, best thing is to reload an earlier save and see if it persists.

And, to be clear, you never had any mods installed at any point on any previous save that you used on this playthrough - because if you did and removed them, and then continued playing - the save is broken.

Hi, yes, I have all the Anniversary stuff installed that was previously Creation Club, e.g. the new homes/items/quests. I have never had any mods ever and have never used console commands (I'm boring, I know). I tried loading an earlier save and the same thing happened.

That's what is so surprising. I saw that they were minor bug fixes but being a solely vanilla player, I usually don't have crashing issues. Sure it crashes sometimes, but not usually a trigger like this where each time it crashes. Oh well. Thanks.

So far there have not been any other reports in the forum, but maybe this is something that is specific to that area or cell? Will have to keep an eye out for this. Best thing might be to contact Bethesda directly about this then.

I have the same problem. I tried to give the shards one at a time, all together, change the time of day, reinstall the game, check the local files - everything shows that everything is fine, but the game still crashes when I try to enter the house.

I think this is due to the recent update. Perhaps a little later this will be fixed.

I don't want to use console commands to complete this quest - I want to get all the game's achievements.

Same problem here, no extra mods either other than Anniversary Edition. Tried to reload an earlier autosave (from just a few minutes ago though) to no avail.

i have also just run into this issue when entering the house it immediately crash's.
was able to enter the house fine yesterday before the update.

I'm not going to bother with all that. With multiple people having the same problem, it seems pretty clear it is the update that broke it. I also validated via Steam Library, properties and then Local Files and then Validate and everything was fine.

Is is the same thing, but with slightly more steps in case your download cache was corrupted as well.

I'm seeing something different - when I first enter Silus' house, there are no display cases and everything that would normally be in them is sitting on the floor. If I look out the door, there's a big void and I can see the display cases floating out there. If I go out, I fall and reappear inside the house. There's no escape from the house, so I had to go back to a previous save. I'm only mentioning it here because this issue happens at the same time so maybe it's related. Has anyone else seen anything like that?

That sounds like a file was corrupted or a mod conflict, try verifying files by following the directions in the above link.

This is happening with me as well. Thankfully I was initially able to complete the quest and get Mehrune's Razor, but I later went back to the house and it crashes whenever I try to enter it. I also only have Skyrim Anniversary Edition with no mods.
