SKSE/SKAE Confusion
I'm a little confused.

I do not Anniversary Edition. Is SKSE still going to receive updates and I just to wait until they finish going through the new code, or is SKAE the one I'm going to need to use from now on whether or not I actually have Anniversary Edition?

Never heard of SKAE to be honest with you there. I'm using SKSE with the Anniversary edition currently

I think I know what OP means. I just reinstalled Skyrim SE and started modding and LOOT says: It appears you are not using the correct SKSE version. And suggests I use SKAE.
HazakTheMad 4 DIC 2021 a las 13:23
No, it is suggesting that you use SKSE 2.1.3
There is no such thing as "SKAE", as SKSE stands for Skyrim Script Extender, even though there is versions for both Skyrim and Skyrim Special Edition.

Yes, you need the SKSE AE Version. Even if you haven´t purchased the AE, yet. Works fine with SE.

There is a Preliminary AE build 2.1.3
And LOOT seems to think that I have AE, because I got the fishing CC or something.

EDIT: Okay, I see.

So, to recap:

SKSE SE is now, for all intents and purposes, obsolete and will no longer be updated. SKSE AE should be used even if you don't have Anniversary Edition.

Correct?

Correct?
SKSE for AE is for Updated SE, SKSE for SE is for old SE.
New updates will be for SKSE for AE.

The Script Extender Page is clear:
http://skse.silverlock.org/

Note the "runtime (game versions)" that's the key

As of 12/4/2021

SE v1.5.97
Current SE build 2.0.20 (runtime 1.5.97): 7z archive

AE v1.6.323
Preliminary AE build 2.1.3 (runtime 1.6.323): 7z archive

Oldrim v1.7.3
Current classic build 1.7.3: install via steam - installer - 7z archive (readme, whatsnew)

You must use the proper version for your game

IF you're like me and you did not update your game i.e. game version 1.5.97 is still your game version you will get a vortex message that says:
"Skyrim Special Edition will be updated on 11 November 2021. This update will cause Skyrim Script Extender and any mods that depend on it to temporarily stop working. You can read more about this change in the site news."
OR
"Update for Skyrim Script Extender 64
(SKSE64)
Latest: 2.1.3 Installed: 2.0.20"

Do not update your version of SKSE64 because you have the proper version for your game. Again, this is only if you did not update your game.

Edited to include more info.

Except it’s not clear. The newest version is listed as the AE version. Steam updated my game, but I do NOT have Anniversary Edition.

Do I still use the so-called AE version of skse even though I still have SE?
HazakTheMad 4 DIC 2021 a las 16:19
xSE team aren't the best at naming things, the one listed as for AE is for SE update 1.6323
LooksLikeDaniel 7 DIC 2021 a las 16:28
Update: It functions, but it's pretty laggy and glitchy.
HazakTheMad 7 DIC 2021 a las 16:31
That is probably a mod you are using that you haven't updated yet.
