Ah, okay - thanks!

But you still haven't told me which follower I can get who is uncapped and available fairly soon after coming out of the cave! ;)

J'zargo (if you are not using Unofficial Patch cause that patch caps his level to 20)
Dark Brotherhood Initiate (their max level is 100)
Caleann
Durak
Ingjard
Frea

These aren't exactly obtainable super early but aren't too hard to get either.

Aside from mods there isn't one. The followers that level forever are restricted to Dawnguard and Dragonborn IIRC. Well there is J'Zargo from the college but he only uses novice level spells.

Edit: Well scratch J'zargo I guess.

I only remember Ingjard and Frea (largely, because I used them 6-7 years ago). But as you say, they aren't rally obtainable early though. So I'd have to struggle mightily in combat still for a while - if I start the game at level 60-plus or even level 30-plus...

All Housecarls have max level of 50 so that should keep you going for a while.
Lydia is not a bad tank and fighter and you get her very early.

I set minimum encounter zone levels to something ridiculous like 60-80. Granted i will get my ass handed to me cause the probability of running into a Death Overlord or Falmer Warmongers is very high on low lvl.

But eh i don't mind the challenge ;) it's a rough start but less boring late game.
Speaking of this. I remember looking in the past for a mod to level up zones on revisits/respawns, but don't remember having much luck. Do you know of one for Skyrim? Hopefully there's one out there that works with the AE update.

I used this one for LE
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/84924
It worked flawlessly

There is a port of this mod for SE but it's not the same author and idk if it works well alongside AE so i am hesitant about using that one :

On side note you can attack Hadvar / Ralof in their homes too. They won't attack back if you are unseen and the npcs living there have schedules so they are mostly out of the house.

Plus as benefit you can use the Standing Stone skill level up rate boost to level up your Sneak even faster.

They are pretty blind too so you can stab rapidly but they do move from time to time from their idle spot to another idle spot where they sit/stand for a while so careful.

Thanks for this tip.

Still, I am a bit skeptical as to whether getting level 60-plus (or even 30-plus) right off the bat helps you that much. Again, fighting at that level with no uber gear would be hellish.
Actually not that hellish, since ull be able to get gear through stealth and etc. And it will be the same as u started to play on legendary

I guess there's no real point leveling past 60 since there's no leveled item versions above this level?

Isn't most non-DLC stuff level 46 or below anyways? I think only the last DLC stuff may be fully leveled at 60.

Couldn't you just spawn yourself a new one at the level you want periodically as you advance in level with the console.

Legendary Dragon and Ebony Warrior are the only reasons to level past 60.

In terms of leveled gear there is not. The highest leveled gear is Mirrak's sword and Mask which are indeed level 60 for the highest tier.

There is some merit in going to 78 for Legendary Dragons, which grant an achievement upon killing one. They can also be a bit of a challenge as they are stronger than Alduin.

Hitting 80 spawns the Ebony Warrior, the Unofficial Final Boss of Skyrim.
