Huh... my Bow of Shadows... broke?

Soo... i was going nuts with the bow of shadows, since i unlocked the perk that allowed me to draw an arrow 30% faster, and i didn't know it stacked with the bow of shadow's enchantment, so it was like a friggin machinegun of arrows (besides giving you infinite invisibility wich was already amazing enough)

Until all of the sudden............... it broke. I don't know what happened but both enchantments simply don't work anymore... O_o the description of the item still says it gives you invisibility and 30% draw speed, but it behaves as a completely normal bow. When i drop it on the ground it dosn't even glow like an enchanted item should... any idea what could have happened?

Can't, its enchantment isn't charge based, so i wont even have the choice

its an unique bow, no way to find other without cheating =/

just checked, had brain rot, but i healed it and i still had the same issue... now i found a save where i still have the enchantment working, but if i unsheathe and sheathe it again i lose it right there! its so odd O_o

you need soul gems to recharge your enchanted wepons collect some then go in the menu highlight your wepon then press recharge

No, they are passive enchantments, they don't need recharging.

Having issues with Bows myself. For some odd reason all the bows i find or craft are doing ridiculously high amounts of damage. When i started a new wood elf character the Bows were doing normal damage (15 base + 10 steel arrow damage) but now all of sudden Bows have well over 100 base damage. Not sure what could be causing this.

Might be like the Headsmanscleaver it has a specific amount of charges. Headsman have 2k charges and thats it.

It has or shouldn't have anything to do with charges, they are more passive bonuses not charge attack bonuses. I've been using it for 90% of my current play through and don't have the issue OP is having. It doesn't need to be re-charged.

Are you using any mods that could perhaps cause issues with bows or weapons maybe?

Just saw a comment on youtube about people having a similar issue to you after they did the Thalmar Embassy Quest. When they got the bow back it stopped working as it should. Did you do that quest at or around the time you had the issue?

I am having issues with the crossbows. Getting bolts passing through targets heads shooting from 15m lol

But my shadow bow also broke too. No option to charge, and it wont do invisibility anymore. No mod usage either. Just store DLC.

Try the good ol tactic to unglitch scripted weapon/armor effects:

Drop the bow on the floor. Save game , exit , reload the save and pick up the bow.

See if it works now.
It worked for me when some modded weapons and armors had their scripted enchantments glitched. Even worked fixing similar bug with Chinese Armor CC for Fallout 4.

So give it a shot. You got nothing to lose really.

Pretty sure Bows are bugged after update because mine are seriously underpowered at the mo even with an Archer build.

the headsman doesn't even have an enchantment, and you can't enchant it.

as for OP did you clean bow of shadows CC content with xedit? Sometimes when I use the clean version some save file have working bow of shadows, some don't for some reason. After redownloading the original version from bethesda it works fine. and heck maybe if you don't clean it perhaps redownloading the content might just be the fix of your problem.
