You won't get Shadowmere if you kill Astrid.

I prefer the CC unicorn anyway.

I kill Astrid and then set them all free. You can loot her armor outfit and use it on your own assassin build if you are playing that style. Her Blade of Woe is also a nice low level weapon.

The hood is the perfect fashion item for any of your followers, Faendal especially loves it!

Although the reaction from the guard when you nonchalantly walk up to him and say you killed Astrid is priceless.

My level 18 char at the time, got 3k gold for completing the DB quest line from the commander. Like you said, it is short, but I found it very profitable for my char. Doubling the gold he had at the time.

I couldn't agree with you more that is another reason for which I don't kill Astrid. You get a cool looking horse with shadowmere and more.

I might have to save the game so I can reload the game before I start the quest and check this out. That way I can reload my previous save and still play the DB quest line as normal.

I've never found gold to be a problem as you can make gold in so many different was in the game. After all I'm level 30 and own 5 properties in the game and have over 100k gold not to mention all of the Ore, ingots and gems for which I've got.
