Need help with Skyrim not launching due to ucrtbase.dll

I was playing Skyrim just fine today but then suddenly it wouldn't launch anymore. Every time I try to launch it, the application closes itself and Event Viewer reports that it's due to a faulty module called "ucrtbase.dll". I've tried every fix I can think of, including verifying the game files, uninstalling all my mods, running commands to check the .dll files through command center, reinstalling Visual C++ Redistributables, and installing ucrtbased.dll, but nothing has worked and I keep getting the same exact error message. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, have you figured it out?!

Thank you for the suggestion, but I already used that website as a guide. The SFC scan came back as normal, I don't have a restore point to go back to, and I already tried updating Windows and all my drivers.

ok follow that short guide I posted but follow it exactly including the video step by step. The process is a simple but important one.

Not really, the reinstall will be the longest part waiting for it to download and install. But it's worth it as you'll have a 100% clean Skyrim SE. Plus this will show us if it's a Windows problem or not. Either way after all the setting your load order back to the way it was and any uninstalling you did your game probably needs a fresh start. Not to mention doing so has fixed issues for countless users so let's make it one more. Like I said, either way this is a good thing.

The game just reinstalled and is finally launching. Granted, this is completely vanilla. I'll have to reinstall all 400 of my mods and see if this continues to be the case. Thank you for your help!

Congrats. Take your time and test ever 3-5 mods you install.

I Just had the same problem it was caused by the newest AE version of alternate start, live another life. I removed that mod and everything works just fine right now.

That makes no sense, Alternate start has absolutely nothing to do with DLL files at all.

Just wanted to say that after fixing my game and reinstalling all my mods, the problem happened again to me but this time I knew what mod was responsible: ABR 5.9.2 from ADRI's Patreon. I have no idea why that mod would cause it, but my game bugged out after installing that mod the first time, and again this second time. Fortunately, I found out that I didn't have to reinstall my game again; I just had to purge my load order in Vortex and the redeploy it.

Good to hear you were able to fix the problem this time around. I'd stick with Nexus mods as much as possible. Also Afkmods.com is also very good and of course we need skse.silverlock.org as well as enbdev.com if we use an enb. There are a couple of others but those are the main sites we all should be using imo.

It's just pretty weird cuz only one specific version of the mod gave me this problem. 5.7.8 and 6.4.3 are nowhere near as problematic as 5.9.2 was, and none of them touch .dll files either.
