How much space does your game take?
With mods it takes another 50 gigs compressed, and uncompressed another 75 gigs. Can I delete the compressed files?

What mod manager are you using and where exactly are the compressed files?
As for me, 15 GB for base game, roughly 40 GB for the mods.

My SSE folder is currently 90 gigs which is pretty standard for me. With vortex though, and the way it stores the archives on your computer, is takes closer to twice that amount of SSD space.

I saw this at work yesterday and was curious myself.

Steam/steamapps/common/skyrimrim = 91 Gigs.
AppData/Roaming/Vortex/skyrimse = 136 Gigs.
My offsite download folder has = 32 Gigs.

This game can eat some storage - lol, I guess.

Using vortex on my 1T SSD. Had to remove some games when I realized Skyrim is eating up about 140 gigs. I suppose I could delete the compressed files and free up 50 gig, download them again if I need to.

The base game, even with all the CC content for me takes up 14.27 gb. Mods causing the game to take up 140 gb , sounds like bloatware. You must be using hundreds of mods.

35 files, 53 gigs. They were uncompressed and that takes another 75 gigs.

Disclaimer, this is to the best of my knowledge and understanding but doesn't have an actual official source. It is an educated guess.

So the thing with vortex is this::

Whenever you install a mod with vortex, it installs the mod and stores the archive on your computer. This allows you to add or remove mods from you game, while still leaving the archive available for future use. So you can temporarily uninstall and then reinstall without having to redownload the mod.

I also believe that vortex uses these archives from time to time for conflict resolution. For example, if two mods have a file with the same name, you have to choose the installation order.

Lets say mod A and mod B both have a texture called "cloudy sky" in the same directory. Lets say mod A is set to load first and then mod B after (to overwrite A). If you uninstall mod B, vortex needs to be able to find and reinstall "cloudy sky" from mod A. I believe it does this from the archive.

Again, I'm not certain this is the case. But it is my educated guess and why I don't remove the archives myself while a game is in progress. (in case i decide to install another mod mid-playthrough)

Sheesh, forgot to turn it on 2160. Was wondering why my 2nd playthrough didn't feel so sharp. To think I hit level 30 under 1080....
