Is Skyrim getting a next-gen upgrade?
Yes! Owners of Skyrim Special Edition or the Anniversary Edition on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S will receive a next-generation upgrade for the game. The upgrade will be free and optimize the game with enhanced graphics, faster loading times and more.
What about PC??
The enhancements are equivalent to ultra on PC.
They're adding some CC content alongside some unreleased 10 creations as part of the wholesome AE experience. Alongside breaking SKSE64 due to compiler update which makes the whole AE experience not so wholesome anymore because this is a end of the world for some people as their SKSE64 plugins don't work anymore.
So yes, of course it's just SE with more content, don't think Bethesda would wanna actually do a decent remaster of Skyrim when Todd said this was just one special case and they ain't here to remaster games. More likely secretly trying to milk the final drops from the cow that's on it's own death bed.
Possibly, some console users may get a graphics update with AE.
The upgrade in question here is the - "Next Gen upgrade" which is for Next Gen Consoles.
