Vampire attacks on towns: still happening or not?
So I've played through Skyrim a couple of times now, and have noticed that there does not seem to be consensus across the various versions as to whether vampire attacks on cities and towns can still happen.

About a year ago (2018), I played through Skyrim the first time. Special Edition, no mods (because of wanting the Steam Achievements). Creation Club things WERE installed.

I got plenty of vampire and dragon attacks on towns. The vampire attacks have now been disabled by completing Dawnguard, and the dragon attacks reduced by completing the Main Quest (I don't know whether this actually disables dragon attacks on towns or simply reduces them).

In the case of dragon attacks, the non-walled cities - Dawnstar, Winterhold, Morthal, Falkreath - seemed particularly prone to them, as did some attacks on the grounds outside the walled cities (Riften Stables seemed to be a regular target, as did the Solitude external docks. Markarth seldom saw a dragon attack, and Windhelm even more rarely. The fields south of Whiterun were somewhere in the middle.) Dragon attacks in walled cities were MUCH rarer - I saw them happen in Whiterun, Solitude and Windhelm once each, never in Markarth or Riften.

Now I'm replaying Skyrim.

I have been told that Skyrim Special Edition apparently has now had a patch that disables vampire attacks on towns. However, general consensus suggests that the date of this patch was BEFORE I started playing... but I was definitely getting vampire attacks on towns.

I can also confirm that this change has not been applied to the Legendary Edition, which I decided to play second time around (for the second set of Steam Achievement points). Even with the Unofficial Patch, I am still regularly getting vampire attacks on towns. Oddly enough, almost never dragon attacks, nowhere near the frequency I was getting in the Special Edition.

So, in conclusion:

(1) If I were to replay Skyrim Special Edition rather than Legendary, would I get vampire attacks in towns, or have they been disabled?

(2) I have all the Creation Club updates.

(3) I will this time be able to install mods, specifically the Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch. Does it disable vampire encounters in towns - or indeed, does it re-enable them if they were disabled by an official patch?

Vampire attacks IN cities and towns are indeed disabled for the SE version. Dragon attacks are not.

Then when were they disabled? Because I was definitely getting vampire attacks in cities at some point during 2018, which I thought was after they were disabled... Hopefully this disablement will stick next time I play through!

Assuming that I play through from the start rather than simply carry on and explore some mods with a character that's finished the main content...

Vampire attacks in Holds are reduced to a "traveler" that does not attack you or anyone else unless you interract with them first.

Random vampire attacks in the wild still happens.

They where disabled early this year i belive. I got the game late 2018 and the attacks made me take a break. Then early 2019 i decided "screw it i will just do the dawnguard stuff first" but when i started playing the attacks where replaced by the travelers that are totaly harmless.
