I’ve never figured out how to get the creation kit stuff, but I am curious as to whether the models in this mod are similar to the cc crossbows.
I have no idea what that means
I can see that, but vanilla crossbows pack considerably more punch than most bows. I’m a little concerned that such an expansion of crossbows might render bows obsolete.
You can get a crossbow from the Dawnguard at any point anyway. If you head to dayspring Canyon you can join early and get your free crossbow, no need to do the quest until you're ready. The Dawnguard crossbow does 17 damage, mid range with the mod installed.
The weakest crossbow is a hunter's that only does 8 damage, 1 point higher the hunting bow. This is true for most of them, they are slightly stronger than their bow counterparts. The exception is the Assassins' crossbow but that takes some investment to get.
More or less. Bows are quieter and reload faster but Crossbows dont reload slow by any means. Crossbows are just superior to bows in every way possible. But it all depends on the style you are going for. I tend to use thematic armors so if i use Fur armor i use a Hunting bow or similar even if i can craft a dragonbow etc.
