Can't Complete Getting The Dibella Statue - Lisbett is Dead
Ok, every other time I have played the game, I always found and returned the Dibella Statue to Lisbett, owner of Arnlief & Sons Trading in Markarth. But I completed "The Taste of Death" quest first this time, in which I chose to kill all the cannibals in Reachcliff Cave, (of which Lisbett is one) rather than kill Valurus.

So, now that Lisbett is dead, I can't return it. Nor can I sell it to complete the quest. Although I dislike using the console to advance quests, does anyone know what the final Stage Command is for it? I thought I could maybe turn it in to Imedhnain, her assitant. But there's no option through him.

from wiki:

"If one ends up having the miscellaneous quest to bring back the statue of Dibella to Lisbet, but she has already been killed during "The Taste of Death," the statue will remain stuck in the inventory. Using a console command to spawn her again is the only way to get rid of the statue. To spawn her, type "player.placeatme 000133A5" in the console — she will spawn nearby and start walking back home, then the quest may be completed."

hope that helps

The final stage is usually to just ignore it in your journal, as using the console to complete quests risks breaking things - even if it seems that they should or would not. But with this not just being a journal entry but lugging around the statue too (even if it is weightless), it's a little different, so:

From https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Lisbet%27s_Missing_Shipment Bugs section
"In case Lisbet is killed before completing the quest, both statue and objective will get stuck.
- Enter setstage FreeformMarkarthE 20 to manually complete the quest: you will receive the reward, and the statue will be removed from your inventory."

That's very bad advice from the wiki.
Using setstage is much better than spawning her in - which may have unforeseen consequences as the game already has her recorded as dead in the save file, and having her alive will possibly break the save). That placeat me command should only be used for inanimate objects or generic, respawning NPCs - NEVER unique or named NPCs. (And, if you did spawn her in (or any dead character to complete anything - a very bad move and NOT a suggested solution by any means), you would have to immediately kill her so that the game will again see her as dead)

Beat me to it. Yes, that's correct what smr1957 says Lady.

I was on the fandom page and did not realize it until I went back to close it out. UESP is always better, at least for me.

No, I was aware that some console commands (like resurrect) can cause bad ripple effects in the save file.

Anyway, thanks for that, I will use the console command you provided just to complete it. Appreciate the help.

Actually, it seems that the uesp is also getting its fair share of erroneous entries lately, and this has been noticed and posted on USSEP

....Wiki authors have a bad habit of recommending the use of the console to "fix" problems in the game without understanding what the commands actually do. In nearly every case you end up doing irreversible damage to your save by using them.

... You have to keep in mind UESP is a wiki, and anyone with the time to spare can edit the information on it. Which means it has a lot of inaccurate bug reports that are often found to have been caused by mod issues, not the game.

You can despawn her as soon as you completed the quest.

So i am guessing you took the quest "Taste of Death" then accepted find the Statue of Dibella for Lisbett ?
no, rather the reverse. I received the quest from her upon first entering Markarth. But it sat in Miscellaneous and I forgot about it. I completely forgot Lisbet was one of the cannibals In Reachcliff Cave.

Depending on the number of saves you made doing them, would it not just be easier to go back to the save before you took the quest ?.

No, I did the quest for "Taste of Death" about 8 levels and a couple of dozen quests ago. I would lose a lot of ground if I did that. It was only after I decided to go through the Miscellaneous quests to clean some of them up that I realized it.

Ooh that's a bugger, lucky you've got the good post from smr with all the info, hope its all sorted for you.
Yes, the console command solved it, thanks. All the times I've played SSE that's the first time I ran into that little Catch-22.

I got her statue for her and did Taste of Death later. I killed everyone and looted them. Then I got stuck with the Dibella statue she was carrying because the game stupidly considered it to be a quest item, even with the quest completed.
It annoyed me to no end until I found out quest items don't add to total weight carried. That was Oldrim.

I loaded an old game with the statue still in inventory a year or so ago, and the game let me sell it.
