AllGUD issues.
Hello all. I recently tried the immersion mod AllGUD (All Geared Up Derivative) and while I like the idea of it, the fact that all of the equipment on a character's back would clip through each other was a bit more immersion breaking than it was worth IMO, so I removed the mod. However, characters still stubbornly insist on placing the shield on their back even after I removed the mod. I'm using vortex mod manager and can't for the life of me understand how to remove this effect. I'd like them to unequip their shields to their arms at their side, as they would on vanilla. If anyone is aware of how to fix this I'd really appreciate it.

General advice is to not remove mods mid way, except textures and (most) meshes. Specific to this mod, I had a glance over the file content and installation instructions. This mod contains scripts, and does not feature any uninstallation instructions, which tells me that even the mod author is under no illusion that their mod can be uninstalled.

You should return to a save before you ever added AllGUD.

As Storm posted.

For complete information as regards this, see:
You CANNOT Remove Mods Mid-Playthrough -

Also, as a side benefit, if you are suffering from insomnia, reading that may help you fall asleep.

Hey Badviper, unfortunately true what the above posts refer to.

Your best bet is too do a complete vanilla reinstall. This is NOT done by simply uninstalling / reinstalling the game.

Watch this 2 minute video by Michael of GamerPoets and follow it to the letter, pause vid as needed. Then take the opportunity to build a new load order (write the whole thing off to experience).

Thank you for the replies. I'd actually tried starting a brand new game to get around this, but even brand new characters with saves that never had the mod installed equip shields to back. Is it possible that some leftover files are causing issues? If so, will I have to completely uninstall Skyrim SE, delete any remnants in the folder, and reload all my mods into a newly installed skyrim SE? That shouldn't be too hard since vortex stores the mod info elsewhere, and I have a backup folder of SSE that should... theoretically be vanilla.

Edit: I was typing this before Vlad's post, so I didn't see it till after. Seems to confirm. Thanks again.

Further Edit: Well... I didn't have the backup folder I thought I did. Should anyone stumble upon this topic in the future, heed my warning. Always be sure to copy a pure vanilla version of your unmodded game, before modding it, and double check to make sure you have it before going on a modding spree. And thanks again everyone for the polite and patient replies. ^^

Yes, as smr says, keep us posted.

Well, after waiting all night for my crummy rural internet to redownload the game, it seems that was indeed the case. Something about AllGUD must have been baked into my game's files, requiring that clean wipe as in the tutorial video above. So now, it does work correctly, without the shields on back. Thanks again everyone. ^^

That's good news, Badviper! Now make sure you copy the SSE master files so that you don;t have to download everything again if you ever have need to in the future (hopefully not!).
Good luck and have fun!

Terrific Badviper. Now enjoy your game, you earned it.

Yea I probably the scripts section of the installation was stuck in there? It's been a while for me.

There is a good way to fix the clipping issues though, in the racemenu you can adjust weapon positions and size to get things looking just right.
