[SOLVED] Microsoft VC Redist is giving you a hard time? Check this walkthrough!
I can't seem to find any solution to this issue.
I have googled quite a lot, but every "fix" assumes that the software will run, which doesn't happen for me. I get stuck on the "initializing" screen.

I've seen people say that the fix is quite as simple as deleting "verifyinstall.vdf" or something like that. But that doesn't help me.

I can still play the game - all I have to do is end the process of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable, but it annoys me that I have to do it all the time. Also, it is not only an issue that I come accross when trying to play Skyrim.

Note: I can't run ANYTHING at all. Be it an Uninstall, Install or Repair.
Tried messing with the regedit, but couldn't find anything useful. (might not have searched propperly)
Tried to run windows update troubleshooter, it didn't point out anything.
Forcing uninstall through the installer directory by command prompt didn't do any good either.
[EDIT Note] It did, only I was using a different command at this time, which was "net stop wuauserv" and "net stop bits".
Disabling my antivirus or rebooting also didn't help.
Tried using windows update, but I can't update it. My attempt to force it to stop working through cmd (net stop wuauserv) failed miserably.

I have plenty versions of it, as this image shows: http://imgur.com/a/2E3n9
(thought of removing every older version, but Google suggested that I didn't - either way, I couldn't even remove anything even if I wanted to)

Log error file: http://pastebin.com/gMPEx9MR

My OS is Windows 10 x64 version 1607.

[UPDATE]

I have fixed the problem!

Just for the sake of Googling, I will point out the error ID which I was having, so it makes things easier for people to find this thread: Error 0x800700e8

Apparently, it was an issue with Windows Update not being able to work propperly and update the required files. (or something like that)

So I'll just leave a walkthrough that might help people, eventually. Note that this is on Windows 10.

Step 1. Open Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services and find "Windows Update". Double click it and set "Startup" to "Disabled". (default should be Manual)

Info: this must happen so that when you force Windows Update to stop working, it won't just launch itself again. We definitely don't want that to happen.

Step 2. Run the command prompt as administrator.

Step 3. Type "sc queryex" and hit enter.

Scroll up. On "SERVICE_NAME" you should find "wuauserv" - that is the application for the Windows Update.
You need to find it's PID value. (note it down)

Step 4. Now type this:
taskkill /f /pid xxxx and hit enter.
Note: xxxx should be the number of the PID that matches "wuauserv".
In my case, it would look like this:

Info: Now you have forceably stopped Windows Update, so you can delete the corrupted files that kept you from going further with any Microsoft VC Redist installation/execution.

Step 5. Navigate to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download
Delete ALL files inside the "Download" folder.

Info: It shouldn't prompt for any erros, only ask for administrator permission. If it does say you can't delete any files, you've done something wrong. Probably, Windows Update is still running, which means you haven't disabled it on the first step.

Step 6. Now that you have deleted it all, go back to the first step and set "Startup" back to "Manual". (if it wasn't before, just do it now)

Info: As soon as you do that, you may notice the Download folder (from step 5) starting to create files. That is expected.
Nevertheless, if you check for the windows update on the system menu, it might still give you the option to "Retry", which might lead you into thinking it isn't already, but it is.
Note: to open Windows Update in the Systems menu hit Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update

Either way, you can click it anyhow. And then, all you have to do is wait for it. Do not restart your PC untill it says you can do it!
Hopefully, this will help someone.

wuauserve does not appear as an option in the command prompt.

If it isn't showing in your service list, then that means it's already closed and you can continue from step 5.

If you're entering "wuauserv" (or "wuauserve") as a command, then ur doin it rong and you need to read the guide properly.
