Is the house in Whiterun worth the 5000 gold?
Is it worth it to buy the house in Whiterun or should I wait and buy one of the Hearthfire houses?

I need a place to store all of my crap because I am a hoarder in this game...

Edit: I should point out that I've never played any of the DLC content from the original game, only the vanilla content so Hearthfire and everything like that is completely new to me.

Yes it is handy i own it
well, it's the cheapest house. you can't buy hearthfire houses, you have to build them. and tbh i don't like them that my (personal taste), i'd rather recommend to get a player house mod instead.

Nah not really. Just complete one of the faction questlines and you get a room where you can store all your stuff. I am saving up for the house in Solitide and I'm going to build one as well.

Ofc it is. It is also one of the cheapest! You can't get enough storage room in the early game.

Money becomes worthless eventually, so price is irrelivant.

But early on it is nice to have a place, then sink some money into it when you have too much and wanna redecorate.

Thank all you guys for the quick responses. I think i'm gonna go ahead and buy the Whiterun house because I saved up the money pretty quickly early on.

It's easy to get a lot of gold(especially with mods) so buy all the houses! :)

just start the mages quest line, at the beggining(5 min) you will receive a room, you can store anything there without problem, just dont use the barrels, thy reset after some time

It's cheap, it's decent, Whiterun is fairly centrally located in the world so it's handy to drop by, and the fast travel waypoint there is pretty close. It's definitely worth it.

FOR SURE! I'm also a hoarder, (just in video games lol) and want to stock pile every place I can! Well worth it, so close to( War Maidens) smithy, tanning rack, forge, etc. Like 15 steps after fast travel. Highly recommended

Oh yeah I forgot about that. Yeah the old after u accept the house, the hurry and put all your gold in a container method! Nice. Been awhile but I think I remember maybe pushing the guy so I would be close to a container

Breezehome is great for its central location, so yes it is worth it.

I would say buy the falkreath land where you build a house. There is a chest there that you can store stuff in since it sounds like you dont plan on using the house other than storing and the land costs the same as breezehome.

For me it's the best house, because it is very convenient.

It is small, but with many storage boxes (so you can find all your stuff quickly), it is central in the world map and it is close to various stores to cover all your needs!

I bought Breezehome and adopted the homeless girl Lucia in Whiterun. I'm nearly drunk enough that when she thanked me when I walked into my house it almost brought tears to my eyes.
