Unable to enter sky haven temple due to missing npc's
I am unable to get into sky have temple due to Delphine and esbirn going missing from the game.
I have waited 48 hrs at the temple and even gone to search for them at last known location but i cant find them anywere.

I have the same problem, I found Delphine in the basement of the Inn in Riverwood, but she had no dialogue options to start/restart the next stage of the quest line.
Esbren is nowhere to be seen.

I think this messed up quest is left over from the old game and was one reason I quit playing. I like rhe SE but it doesn't correct any brolen quests or bugs.

Its pretty easy to fix any quests in skyrim.

You can use the console to start, skip a part of a quest, finish a quest. You can even teleport npc to you, kill them, ressurect them.

If the npc isnt there just teleport it to you and finish the quest or just finish the quest using the command.

After fiddling around with some console commands, I found out that the whole chain has reset back to when I was sent to find him in Riften.

Check your quest Journal.
If you have the quest "A Cornered Rat" you should be able to restart the chain from Riften by finding Esbren in the Ratway.

If that dont work here are some console commands you can use to summon them to you.

Type "prid 00013485"(without the quotes)
Next type "moveto player"(moveto, not move to, no spaces)
This summons Delphine to your location

Type "prid 00019DFD"
Next type "moveto player"
This summons Esbern to your location.
