Buzzing, static sound
The game worked fine, I'm about 24 hours in and now for some reason whenever I load my save a buzzing sound starts up and that's all I hear. I also can't exit the game properly and I have to turn my PC off. Does anyone have any suggestions?

What fix? I just got out of alftand and I do NOT want to reload to a previous save. I didnt save frequently enough. Can anyone tell me how to fix the static buzz sound experienced in first person? I read that it was related to Chillrend sword or Frostbite spell but now I am certain something happened to my game file while in alftand. Please help, how the hell do you get rid of this?

All I did was run back out of Alftand as fast as possible & make a NEW save (even though it was still only static all the way out). I reloaded THAT save & everything was back to normal. Then I did my best not to save or die when going through Alftand the 2nd time, and everythings been fine since. I also do not save enough & if I had had to load an old save, it would have been WAY back. This worked for me...Good Luck!

I found a solution sort of. Open console and type sexchange and hit enter, do it twice. However, this solution is only temporary as the sound will come back upon death or loading a different save.

For future reference and anyone looking for Skyrim sound glitches: 1. This is a glitch in the sounds used by Alftland; in particular, the large pistons. 2. If you save a game within hearing of those repetitive pistons, then the bug may occur. 3. The bug is marked by a repetitive, loud tapping-link sound, usually with all other sound silenced (for example, no spoken dialogue from follower, no sound of weapons being prepared). Some users have found fps going down - my experience was an initial drop in FPS but then returning to normal. Ymmv. 4. What you need to do most simply is go through the level and get to another level - going through a door that immediately opens to another room won't be enough. You need a transition and loading pause. You can go back to a previous level or keep going to the elevator and use it. Once on the new level, save and quit Skyrim. Restart using that save and your sound should be fully restored. A way to avoid the bug is to not stop on the level with the pistons if you can avoid doing so. The bug only seems to occur in saves made on that level and does not seem to occur when just going through the level, only when using a save from that level. If you have this problem, try this BEFORE anything else, like checking integrity, messing with your sound drivers, reinstalling Skytim. In general, until there is a new Save from a different level, you will keep encountering the sound. === This is a summary of what others (and myself) have found and posted here and on other forums ===

Checking in from 2018. Just ran into this myself, same symptoms, same place. I was in the Alftland Animonculory and laoded a quicksave, and my loadscreen took like 30 seconds to fade in, and then fps returned to normal, but audio was a stuttering mess. This link (mentioned above) helped me: https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrim/comments/5eexon/game_breaking_glitch_in_the_alftand_animonculory/

My specific fix was rather simple. I was fortunately very close to the elevator that takes you to the next area, the Alftland Glacial Ruins again, after passing through the Animonculory. After entering there, I saved, exited to desktop (via killing Skyrim in Task Manager, because it would lock up on exitting). When I reloaded, everything was a-ok.

Thanks for all the help everyone. I was afraid my save file was perma-corrupted. Happy to know it's not!

This worked for me. Thank you for it. Am 67 hours into this, was terrified I would lose it all. So again, thank you.

reinstall drivers again after windows update ( sound card plugin not a onboard intergrated sound system on mortherboard ), reattach usb speaker system problem gone, and static gone and dweamer engine sound buzz sound crashing overstacing vanish. its look like 2 diffrent sounds issue.

Wow, I can't believe I actually contributed to a solution. I must have dug through "Discussions" 100 times looking for help!

Saludos

I got it, I think! The issue is quicksaves! If you quicksave in the Alftand Animoculory, I think it'll crash on reload. I am not certain if this is only when you quit the game entirely, or if you die. I have not verified this extensively, but give it a shot! Go back to any save before the quicksave, and don't quicksave until you leave. Let me know what happens!
