Original is better than Remaster?
Am i the only one who prefers the original visuals?

I think it has better colors (the greyish style fits a lot more with the world context), textures are sharper (you can really see that in every comparison out there, and there is some proof that Bethesda unecessarily upscaled textures just making them bigger in files and blurrier, which is worse), some effects like snow even look downgraded, and also this "remaster" is supposedly more demanding than the original on pc, so whats the point of this?

Check out the comparison images here, open them in fullscreen on tabs:

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2016-vs-skyrim-remastered

And also check out this video (pay attention specially to the snow effect at 5:40):

Of course there are some technical improvements, like volumetric lightning, advanced shadows, the implementation of ambient occlusion, but even with all of this it still looks clearly worse for me.

And water, which was intentionally modified as an improvement, also looks worse, the waves and colors, but that's just my opinion.

Not at all. I don't need to compare screen shots. I've played this for 134hrs with dozens of mods that 'improve' every aspect of the standard game. Then i get the SE and it's chalk and cheese! The SE has MILES and MILES better draw distance with TONS sharper visuals, not to mention the flora and animals and the armour,weapons are pin-sharp. Interior caves are just exactly as i wished they would be, so much so, i'm replaying the game.
Remember, a monitor is a subjective thing. What you like i might not and vice versa.
Same for a photograph on a 12k camera and lens combo.

But you cant mod the original on consoles.Thus this is why it exist.

I prefer the new version, the new visual effects are nice and TAA in combination with reshade lumasharpen 2.000 strength gets rid of the annoying tree flickering etc at low performance cost. Plus it runs more stable

Also people need to not compare original modded to SE unmodded. SE was never meant to look better than a fully modded original install. Besides once all the best graphics mods get updated for SE, then SE will look lightyears better then modded original could ever hope for, and not lag or crash while doing it.

With SE being so much more technically advanced compared to the original, this will allow mod makers to improve the look even further utilising this new technology. SE modded will blow original modded out of the water, it will just take some time for people to start making them/converting them from original to SE.

Plus the game is now 64bit so that means more stability etc.

You're saying modded Skyrim is better than vanilla SKyrim - SE?

So when SSE gets ENB (which are already starting to appear on Nexus) and all the shizzle, are you still sticking to old Skyrim?

I prefer the new over the old.

It runs MUCH faster on my old system (up to a point... ice wraiths visual effects still make my computer vomit). If they patch the crashes it'll be better than the original.

Right now im going to say i prefer the older version. My older version never had any of the issues the new version is having.

Hardware not being detected, random blur issues with TAA even with all blur turned off in the ini files, missing thumbnails from saves, etc.

Ive spent days troublshooting issues, reinstalling, uninstalling, changing drivers, etc, its been a HUGE headache. On top of that Bethesda hasnt really been responding to any of the new issue/issues being introduced in the SE. Ive NEVER heard of or seen an issue with save thumbnails, now i have one (i googled this and scoured pages didnt come up with anything).

Im guessing its going to be a "well wait for modders to fix everything" again situation :steamfacepalm:

@LordAnubis
@Dr. SEAHAWKS !!!
I said nothing about mods.

As i said, i think the original really looks better, all you need to do is look at the comparisons, and not lie to yourselves, seriously.

😂 should have went to specsavers. The PS3 version looked better than vanilla skyrim on PC. Now we have 2D skyrim vs 3D skyrim SE. it now looks more like a PC game than ever,the fact it's 64 bit is showing some features of our graphic cards. Considering how old skyrim is now is what folks are completely missing.

the new visuals are amazing. the water flows in the direction its supposed to. the rain actually clips if you are in a building or under shelter. It runs butter smooth. i can reach 122 fps and not worry about the damn pots and pans flying all over the room. game is great. now time to mod it.
