Game is already running (NO ITS NOT)
so i just started the game, i downloaded a few mods and then its loading the mod order, then it just keeps doing that. I quit the game using ctrl + alt + delete and now every time i start it, i get the launcher but nothing happens when i click play, it just goes away. I try to start it again but it says the game is already playing, but it doesn't show anything on my taskbar/task manager. Is there a fix?

When you bring up the task manager, there should be a button that says "more details" somewhere in the bottom corner. Click that, and go do a drop down menu that says "background processes". Scroll through that and find Skyrim, then click on it and end task. It may or may not work, but that's what I have to do with various other games to solve this. Good luck

Click more details at the bottom of the Task Manager to see a complete list of what is running. Skyrim will be in that list so select it and click End Task.

If a mod is causing that uncheck the esp/esm and try again. If that works you probably need to remove that mod.

It's probably the mod issue again. You'll probably have to delete <user>/appdata/local/Skyrim Special Edition or something like that. Kill the task in task manager first and make sure it's not running.

It works better to use %localappdata%\Skyrim Special Edition. Installs like mine do not place appdata\local in <user>\appdata\local

PS
For me it's at D:\User\Local

if you go into your steam folder where steamapps/common is and find skyrim special edition theres a mod manifest folder, and in your data folder is where it set your mods esp and bsa files, if you delete those after you force close your game, it should start working again. you could delete them one by one to see which one is causing issues, or just delete them all and start you list back over, it still remembers which ones youve already downloaded in the menu, so you can just go back and select those again, and go through each one at a time trying to load them up in the game. either way, that is how i got mine working again. apparently even though they have just starting adding mods on this version, they still have issues and looks like the way the game detects that is to be stuck in a loading loop. just make sure not to delete any of skyrims actual files, only your mod name files that you added. easily found by looking at the date and time modified.

Some of them work, and some don't.

I'm using all of the texture mods from my LE install, and also SMIM 1.89. I will update SMIM when the Nexus is less overloaded.
