How long does it actually take to level Sneak?
This is more out of curiosity rather than anything, but I found an area southwest of Whiterun where are bandits that are constantly showing the enemy dot but are unable to find me.

Because I don't have the Thief stone activated, how long would it take to level Sneak from 15 all the way to 100?

Sneak is easy, whenever you take on enemies just crouch and be stealthy so they don't notice you, and it soons increases.

It does take a long time though, much like one/two-handed or light/heavy armor---just crouch alot and it will keep increasing.

Did you take the thief perk? And skills only level when you're doing something or in the case of sneak - shouldn't be doing it. (ie. if you're sneaking around where people don't care, it won't do anything... If you're in a dungeon (trying not to be caught) - THAT's when you'll get skill ups...

That is impossible to answer without testing it, few people will sneak and do nothing else.

Leveling up the sneak skill goes pretty fast though. Some of the perks are quite powerful. Combining sneak with archery is a good way to create a specialized archery.

A sneak character can become overpowered. Especially with the aid of enchanting.

Sneak is easy. Just use it and it will level up naturally fast. Do the Thieves guild quests as well. Gives you plenty of opportunity to use it. Plus access to a trainer.

This - but you don't even need enchanting: you can find magical bows in the world that are almost as good as the best bow in the game... :)

I actually made the mistake to enchant apparel to improve sneaking and invest in all the sneak perks. The problem was that I became almost invisible which sort of took the fun out any enemy encounter.

Thanks, just using the crouch method while not attacking feels like it's taking forever (it has taken a few hours already - I am estimating about 5-7 hours at least so far and at level 87 right now)

Sneak can be leveled up quickly.

All you have to do is find Maiq or go to the Greybeards and then sneak attack them with a low damage weapon.

If you use the thief stone + the lovers stone stored on the aetherial crown + sleeping bonus you can level up sneak very quickly.
