Vilkas keeps killing me

Everytime I got to join the Companions I go into the training ground with Vilkas and he tells me to hit him with my sword for training. But as soon as I do everyone there attacks me till im dead. Help.

Are you saying't hit him and don'thit the dummys? He says to take a few swings at him but they all kick off as soon as i go near them, even says not bad if i hit him as i'm being chopped to pieces so not sure what's going on.

This happen to me but was able to fix it by reloading a previous auto save. I reloaded the second to last auto save and it didn't happen again. If I loaded the last auto save the one leaving Yorvaskar the bug would continue to happen. If this doesn't work look up the command console codes to complete the event and finish it that way.

Yeah you do spar with him not a dummy. I've seen this bug elswyr and reflexshift's suggestion fixed it.

Thats a bug, you have to down everyone that attacks you, talk with vilkas, and everyone loves ya

It's a great way to level up early in the game. Can't remember exactly what I managed - something like 3 light armor levels, 2 block levels, and 2 one-handed levels. As long as you beat him down, to his knees, and run away then hide or wait somewhere, he'll forget it ever happened. All of them will :D

This is clearly a bug which has been present since the original Skyrim. I've repeated the error a multiplicity of times...it clearly can't be intended. Reflexshift's solution while noble, did not work. I put aside the Fighter's Guild quest for eons, when I returned, guess who was standing out in the back ready to see "what this whelp can do". Something permanently set Vilkas' disposition to aggressive. That's a fact. Whether the USKP had anything to do with it or not, I'm not sure, but on replays in se, I'm sure to make a myriad of saves prior to the, umm "encounter".. BTW I had no enchanted weapon in inventory or in-hand. Game-breaker.

There is a Brawl Bug Patch on Nexus that resolves most of those issues.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/1473/?. I would recommend it.

Try hitting him barehanded. That worked for me. I got my ass kicked a few times before that, because everyone joined in. He just wants to test your arms, not your sword.

make sure your companion ain't jumping in!!!

It's an issue with your companions I think. You need to make sure nobody is actively following you in your party, go brawl Vilkus and once he's happy with your strength, he loses his aggro and you can go get your companion to join you again.

If you're using mods that overhaul the combat they might be the reason. I use Wildcat on Legendary difficulty and I've experienced something similar because the damage is 4 times the original so when you should be hitting him once and stop as the last hit, you hit him 4 times worth of damage which I think why the reaction is triggered. Try to disable those mods and try hitting him slowly, or change the difficulty to the easiest, and don't rush.
