Sound but no picture just a black screen

when i begin a game I hear a cart and talking but see nothing. My computer meets all the requirements and my graphics card is just updated today. This also happened yesterdaybut I played in windowed/borderless mode and that fixed it. Ihad to delete and reinstall the game due to a different issus and this time that did not work at all!! this is a pain so does anybody have a real solution??? Thanks in advance!

I'm having the same issue, but it's doing it on the Bethesda logo now. Earlier when I installed the game it played fine, but had a graphics hiccup (black screen for a little bit) during the cart ride. It came back on and I was able to play normally, but now it's not even loading properly.

No mods on. 8 ram 64bit, nvidia780. literally abrand new gaming computer.

yesterday it was the skyrim logo with the sound then i fixed it by windowed mode. then i had an issue were alduin didnt land on the tower and the guy beheading me just stood there.. sooo i deleted and reinstalled. now the nopicture sound issue is back without the logo and nothing i did before is fixing it this time

CPU?

It almost sounds like a GPU issue. Are you plugged into the motherboard or the graphics card? Is the GPU properly installed? Drivers up to date?

i just did the graphics update today and since then my issue returned. I half way figured it had something to do with that

I made sure that skyrim is using the graohics card and im still having the issue. all drivers are up to date

Do you have any background processes open? It would help to have the CPU details.
Try lowering your resolution when launching the game, and setting graphiccs to minimum, just to see what happens.
If you can get to the main menu, try this mod: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/272
It starts you in a different cell, I use it for stability testing.

so apparently my graphics card isnt picking up the special edition of skyrim only the older version of skyrim so Ihad to manually switch and add it. such a pain or just me being blonde ;b..

Iam however stll having the issue of no alduin. I can here the roar and when i go up to the chopping block he does not landor appear or anything amd the dude with the axe is just staring at me like hes waiting for a signal. thiswas also happening yesterday and I read to keep starting new games but that did not fix it.. is there another way or can I just bypass this part using the mod you provided in a previous comment?

im probably waaaaay to late for this, but there is a mod that lets you start the game differently, its called "Live Another Life"

All i had to do was go to system graphic settings (just search graphic settings in windows) and manually add the skyrim .exe file.
