This happens to me too, but to a more extreme extent on the regular version of Skyrim. Voices can suddenly cut out and cut in completely in relation to some magic distance and angle relative to my character's POV. The few solutions I've found over the years have had no positive effect in all my 1300 hours of gameplay since release day in 2011.
hope bethesda fixs this
Took a look at it and my speakers were already defaulted to stereo. I'll keep fiddling to see if anything works though.
Otherwise, play with your windows and driver audio settings. It's related to the speaker configuration and other things.
Game runs in 5.1 for me just fine. This is running over my GPU's HDMI to an A/V receiver in 5.1. I can stand by a fire and track the sound around my room as I move in game.
Honestly, try updating headset drivers. Worked perfectly for me.
Fully up to date Logitech G930, doesn't work. Ended up purchasing G933's (not specifically to fix this issue) and those work perfectly.
So to me, thats proof that the issue is hardware support based on the Skyrim side.
Maybe they don't support Dolby Surround correctly, which is what the G930's are, wheras the G933 is DTS 7.1
What a coincidence, im using G930's.
What exactly did you do? I have the G933 aswell, and 7.1 doesn't work for me. Neither does Stereo or 5.1.
I can't tell you exactly what but I the G933's are a fricked up out of the box. First thing to do is update the firmware in Logitech Gaming Software, then turn off the 5 minute time out, then make the LEDs solid instead of "breathing" so that you can actually tell when it's on or off, then bind one of the G buttons to a Mute toggle, then goto the "7.1" icon in LGS and check that the slider is over to the right for 7.1. Dropdown 1 = DTS 7.1 qnd Dropdown 2 = Super Stero Plus
