Difficulty Bug

So when I started a new game, I wanted to start out on a higher difficulty, to put it simply. Its been a while since Ive actully looked at the difficulties so I switch all the way to the lowest to see how many there were and what there names were. Once I had landed on Novice, I had tried switching back over to Apprentice, but it wouldnt allow me. As soon as I would scroll over it would immedialtey scroll back. I closed to desktop, restarted, and found out that the exact same happened with Master and Legendary. It was stuck on Legendary and I couldnt change it.. It just kep changing right back on its own.

I'd like to bump this thread up.
I started a new game on Legendary, and I tried to down the difficulty level a little but it just won't let me. The setting just keeps on jumping back up to Legendary, like a key in my keyboard was stuck and kept on trying to up the difficulty. I tried to "trick" it by lowering it and quickly escaping to the previous menu before it got back to Legendary, to no avail. Does anyone else have that issue ?
EDIT : just tried something else : I put everything back to default settings in the "gameplay" settings menu, hoping for the difficulty to drop. It did, and then it got back up to Legendary but way slower, and I was then able to change it normally. Really weird bug.

has anyone found a solution to this yet? I was on adept, trying to get it to whatever ones above it, and instead it went all the way down to novice and won't get off. It's very annoying.

this has heppend with my game just keep trying it or use a/d to move it u may have toi hold the button down then back of of the menu so it saves it happend a few times but hasnt done it in a while

i actually eventually got it, and a solution is to set everything in the 'gameplay' category back to default, then it should start working again. This wasn't too much of a problem for me, as most of my things were already on default, but if someone changed most of their settings it may be more problemetic than a solution.

If you haven't progressed too far already, I'd say start a new game. If not, try to select the desired level, create a new save, close the game, then load that save. That usually works with trying to get mods to cooperate, might work for the bug.

just load a save before you changed the difficulty and that generally fixes it, it might even be possible just to save and reload

Im having a problem with the difficulty aswell. but not like the poster said. im having a problem that the legendary difficulty is bugged. i kill tought bosses at a low level easily.the enemies still easily kill me but i kill them easily. it feels like its npc damage dealth is 2x and my damage dealth is also 2x. it feels like im playing on novice

have no idea what this might be (and you've necroed a post from 2016). My suggestin is to look up difficulty mods, personally I like Wildcat as it takes control of difficulty through a MCM option. Than to remove the werid dmg buffs you disable them also in MCM...
