There's a bug in the DLC files... I verified all my files though.
My GFX card is quite old, but I don't think this seems to be the issue as it can't find some scripts.
Verifying integrity cashes, updating drivers, manually deleting the game folder after uninstall (as well as the documents folder with the .ini file), and disabling cloud sync... All of these things have been done, but no luck yet. No mod or plugin is installed or otherwise active.
To bypass this problem you can:
1. Turn off your internet connection when launching the main menu. You can turn it back on after you load your save game, but do not go back to the main menu with active connection or it will crash anyway (quit the game to desktop when done).
2. Use VPN to change your location.
3. Block the game client in your firewall so it cannot access the internet.
Well, it worked. I unplugged my internet cable, and now the game starts up without any issues. Thanks a lot, but holy hell... :/
The fact they managed to break the game overnight by some silly in-game ads, or the fact that after 4 days they still failed to fix it.
Thanks for the hint about Skyrim making network connection. I wouldn't have guessed so without finding this thread. Just wasted some time looking for issues with recently released nVidia drivers and MS Windows Updates. Finally locking it on firewall did the trick.
I have a similar problem ...
I wonder if they are working on a solution.
Let's hope :)
