Fix for C++ launch failures.
Right after educating myself for a few hours on corrupt files and whatnot I have fixed my own skyrim and I would like to share the details with yourself.

Majority of you will be on Windows 7 or 10. Not too familiar with 8.1 or 10 so I will try make these steps for yourself.

1) Press the Start tab, search 'programs and features' look for all Microsoft C++ distributes and unistall each individual one, EVERY SINGLE ONE.

2) Now Press the Start tab and search 'msconfig' Go to General tab and go to 'Selective Startup' and untick 'Load startup items' leave everything else. Now go to services tab and on bottom left hand corner there will be a box called 'Hide all Microsoft service' tick that and then click the 'Disable all'

3) You will be forced to restart your computer for this to take effect. Do this. Let your pc warm up as normal for 2-5 minutes depending on your rig.

4) Now open your internet browsers, safari, chrome, firefox or the underated internet explorer I REALLY DONT CARE

5) Go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145 download both (x64) and (x86)

6) INSTALL YOUR (x64) first then install your (x86)

7) Open up Msconfig again and undo the options in steps 2.

8) RESTART

9) Open steam and launch Skyrim SE, make sure in properties you have selected a language.

10) Thank me.

I hope this works for everyone as it has for myself.

If when you tried to start SkyrimSELauncher or SkyrimSE in game folder there is error
api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll then try this:

1. Install Windows 7 Updates. (SP1 necessarily)

2. If when you install Visual C++ Redistributable 2015 there is error code 80070bc9 or installation stops in Windows7_MSU_x64

Try this:

Find Windows6.1-KB2999226-x64.msu in C:\ProgramData\Package Cache\ (or download it KB2999226 from microsoft com)

Extract this file by Winrar (or 7zip...)

Open cmd with administrator rights and write:

dism.exe /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:”c:\temp\Windows6.1-KB2999226-x64.cab”

”c:\temp\...” - instead it write other path where have extract.

3.After that, repair or reinstall C++.

If not worked then try to remove the temp file and try again.

I've done all then steps up to installing x64 c++. But during the installation it just keeps saying 'processing: windows7_msu_x64', seriously ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying.

Just copy windows6.1-kb2999266-x64.msu to disk D or somewhere. The main thing that it was not in the system files. After that - extract.

Thanks for the help, but you really don't have to download anything. The VCRedists are bundled with the game. The problem (for me) was that the 64bit VCRedist needed a reboot in order to complete. Bethesda should have scripted this better, in that if the VCRedist install didn't complete, the user would be prompted to reboot their computer and the game would not launch.

Install BOTH of the redistributables from this path (repair if needed). For me, the 64 bit required a restart. After doing this I no longer repeatedly get asked to install the redist after the next game launch.

Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2015

vc_redist.x64.exe
vc_redist.x86.exe

Yes, the the VCRedists are bundled with the game, but for some of us they fail to install. On my Win 7, VC++2015 looked like it was installed, but it wasn't. Reinstall and repair both ended in a generic failure message. None of the google suggestions worked and, of course, Microsoft's help forum was useless. I had to upgrade to Win 10 (something I did not want to do) to get it installed.

THANK YOU!

I've been trying tons of methods and none of them were working. I had installed the latest C++ pack before, but probably deleting the previous ones was a main step that i was skipping. Again, thank you! I was about to give up

It is standard practice to download all the C++ runtimes from 2005 to 2015...that means x64 and x86.
