Not working on Surface Pro 4 (i7/16GB)
Unfortunately it is not playable on the Surface Pro 4 (i7, 16GB Ram, Iris 540). The game starts but the screen remains black. Later it crashes. I don't know why but it should be working at least with low settings.... So I'm a bit dissappointed, since I was able to play the old skyrim on my old surface pro 2 - but noch with surface pro 4 it is not possible....

Hopefully bethesda will deliver a patch.

Same issue here on XPS 13 with i7 and 16gb ram. None of the fixes online do anything at all for me. I can run regular skyrim reasonably well but I was hoping for some performance increases with the new engine. Feels like the devs just don't care about us
The XPS is an ultrabook, it's meant for professionals that carry it around everywhere they go. If you can run older games then great, but dont expect too much.

Yeah, they're all over making a patch to make the game run on systems below the minimum requirements.
SpeedFreak1972 Nov 9, 2016 @ 2:51pm
it isn't even slightly below minimum ...

Yeah, its not going to even with a patch.

Requirements

Min
Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 470 1GB /AMD HD 7870 2GB
Rec
Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 780 3GB /AMD R9 290 4GB

While you have one of these

Graphics M3: Intel® HD graphics 515
I5: Intel® HD graphics 520
I7: Intel® Iris™ graphics

You're not even close to having the specs to run it. Remember, this is *not* Skyrim with new textures. Its Skyrim on the FO4 engine -with the FO4 engine's overhead - so what you could run SkyrimOG on is kind of irrelevant.

I was able to play the "old" skyrim on my old SP2 with a i5 and 8GB RAM.
So it should be definitely working. I've also seen videos of a guy playing Fallout 4 on a SP4 i5 Model, which has a much lower graphics card. Yes, he was able to play with 1280x720 resolution but it would be fine for me. My i7 has a IRIS540 which is 2x faster then his 520 so I think there's anoter problem...

Stop with this "some other product kinda worked on a different piece of hardware, clearly this more demanding game should work on something else!" crap. It's complete nonsense. You have no actual GPU. Until you invest in a real computer, don't expect gaming to go well.

That's not exactly how it works. The recommended requirements for the original Skyrim (for high settings at 1080p) are actually far lower than the Special Edition's minimum requirements. You have what is basically a low power i3 with a slightly larger cache, and integrated graphics.

Here is your tablet compared to the original Skyrim:
http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=625&game=The+Elder+Scrolls+V&p_make=Intel&p_deriv=Core+i7-6650U+2-Core+2.2GHz&gc_make=Intel&gc_deriv=Iris+Graphics+540+Mobile&ram=16&screenRes_width_FPS=1920&screenRes_height_FPS=1080&checkSubmit=#systemRequirements

Here it is compared to Skyrim SE:
http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=23957&game=The+Elder+Scrolls+V%3A+Skyrim+-+Special+Edition&p_make=Intel&p_deriv=Core+i7-6650U+2-Core+2.2GHz&gc_make=Intel&gc_deriv=Iris+Graphics+540+Mobile&ram=16&screenRes_width_FPS=1920&screenRes_height_FPS=1080&checkSubmit=#systemRequirements

Also, because the tool puts emphasis on RAM, when switching to 8GB in the evaluation, it fails:
http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=23957&game=The+Elder+Scrolls+V%3A+Skyrim+-+Special+Edition&popSysReqRAM=16&popSysReqWidth=1920&popSysReqHeight=1080&p_make=Intel&p_deriv=Core+i7-6650U+2-Core+2.2GHz&gc_make=Intel&gc_deriv=Iris+Graphics+540+Mobile&ram=8&screenRes_width_FPS=1920&screenRes_height_FPS=1080&checkSubmit=#systemRequirements

However, Having more than 8GB of RAM does not affect performance, especially since Skyrim doesn't actually use that much (without mods, it uses less than 4GB), so there is little reason to believe that your tablet can somehow play the game without issues.

The guy that got Fallout 4 working on a tablet was simply lucky, Neither Fallout 4 nor Skyrim SE support integrated graphics, and often people get severe graphical glitches when trying to play them, which is something Game-Debate's tool cannot tell you. While your CPU may meet the minimum, your GPU absolutely does not.

I don't understand this trend of people thinking they run modern games with a HDMI cable and a toaster. If you want a platform that runs games, you're gonna have to build a computer around that, not vice versa. As cool as saying you have a i7 processor sounds, the GPU is what really matters. Doubling-down on what the other replies are saying, your platform is serverely underpowered.

I recommend going on various "Can You Run It" sites to make sure your machine can handle the game before you blow your load on something you can't play.

There is no need to get sarcastic. Here is some real advice.

This is how it works: get a potato and some copper wire. Wire an old toaster to the potato. Connect the toaster to a monitor with an HDMI cable. Get a physical copy of the game or download the game and burn a copy of the files on DVD (CD-ROM doesn't work). Put Skyrim SE in the toaster. Download some RAM from the internet and you are good to go.

WARNING: do not connect the toaster to the mains, you might start a fire or electrocute yourself.

I for one demand that Skyrim SE works on my 4MB SVGA card. Bethesda needs to make a patch pronto.

And the simple fact that the game won't work on Windows 2.x is just insulting.

Lol this guy starts a thread asking what the issue is then ignores everyones answer and still says no no it definitely should be working !

If it's possible to play Fallout 4 on the weaker SP4, then it should be possible to play it on my stronger device: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYSU5kQW3Gg

BTW... I have also a 6-core i7 desktop PC with a 970 an 16GB Ram.

I'm just wondering why I have difficulties playing bethesda games on my SP4, why other titles like Battlefield 1 seem to work on the SP4.

The SP4 is not as weak as you may think.

Here's some examples of games that run on the SP4 (of course with low setting):

Battlefield 1:

The Division:

GTA V:

Fallout 4:

(don't know how he did that. mine keeps crashing after the bethesda logo)

SpeedFreak1972 Nov 17, 2016 @ 8:51am
well lets be honest that it does work for certain games is fine however it is still waaaayyyy below minimum specs so I really don't why bethesda should do anything. minimum specs are minimum specs. also there is still the old version which has lower requirements.

Intel integrated GPUs aren't as legendarily terrible as they used to be, but I still wouldn't expect any modern/remastered game to work well on them, especially if they're not explicitly supported.
