everytime i install NMM for skyrim and try to launch it an error window pops up and says that the version does not work with skyrim, please change game mod in the taskbar menu. i have no idea why its doing this and cant seem to fix it, i will try to get a screen shot

Update to the latest version: NMM v0.63.2 - http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/modmanager/?

Open NMM, rescan games on your system and it should detect Skyrim Special Edition as a separate game, after which mods can be downloaded from the site and installed.

Why would a mod install correctly in NMM but not be visible in-game?
I installed NMM today (latest version) downloaded Skyland thru NMM, and it's not working.
edit: yes it's for SkyrimSE, I made sure of all that, and during NMM isntall.
wait a min, does Skylake not show up in the mods list even though it's actually working?

A lot of this depends almost entirely on the mod you're trying to installe. Are you installing a *Skyrim* mod, or a Skyrim SE mod? For the most part, they are incompatible. What mods are you installing?
EDIT: That picture makes it look like you set up NMM wrong. Rescan for installed games, and make sure you are selecting the right game to sintall mods for.
