Anything with (working) controller support on steam will have Xbox controller working, only few have PlayStation controller support though for now.

for some game its better to use a controller over keyboard and mouse but when it comes to FPS games its better using keyboard and mouse. For skyrim, i'd recommend keyboard and mouse

Couch gamers. Plus some people play on PC and console so are used to using a controller (i much prefer it to k&m)

I sit ca 2 meter in distance to my 32 " TV and my second 22" monitor on my Couch. its better to play my Games with 360 or Steam controller. If you make that for some years its not so difficult like it sounds. Playing with Mouse and Keyboard from Couch is a pain if you play very long sessions. ;)
