Is Creation Club content canon?
Just wondering with the Anniversary Edition coming soon.

yes

UESP says yes, and Bethesda says yes.
Lots of people might say otherwise, but the two most reliable sources say yes.

Well lets be honest it's up to Bethesda what's canon it's not up to the fans to decide.

Not even bethesda understands what canon is anymore, they consistently screw up and bastardize their own lore and have done so since daggerfall so frankly even if they say it's canon, the chances of that "canonization" actually mattering and being relevant are slim if not wholly null and void from the outset.

Besides what creation club content would be relevant enough to even be "canon" in the first place? Mudcrab armor? A buster sword? Broken spells and overpowered armor and weapons?

The thing would be trainwiz's content but no one cares about trainwiz anymore so... eh.

Yeah, but to be equally honest Bethesda isn't th emost reliable source either, they change the lore constantly, and never give enough details....

So while it's up to Bethesda what is and is not Lore, I regard UESP as more reliable.

A better term than Canon would be 'In Continuity'. It is ultimately a corporate product so whatever the current creative director or producers want to stick will stick and it can be reversed by the next.

Only Kirkbride knows what is and isn't canon
Kirkbride was decades ago, the only canon he is involved with these days shoots cannonballs in video games

Indeed Kirkbride doesn't work for Bethesda anymore and is a quite a while out of the loop I mean if kirkbride says something is canon, but Bethesda says no it's what Bethesda says that's canon.

Material shouldn't be deemed canon simply because the material is coming from the owner of the property. If you look at the Star Wars sequel trilogy, you'll see exactly what I mean. Nobody wants to accept that trainwreck as canon. Most often, better canon is written by those who aren't or were but are no longer the owner.
It's not about accepting it, it is what it is. Bethesda own the IP so they say what goes into the games, that's what canon means...

Star Trek may be a train wreck, but that train wreck is canon.... no matter how the fans protest.... same for Star Wars, Xmen and a whole host of other series.... It's one of those cases where you vote with your wallet, when they deliberately hand a franchise over to someone who hates the series we should simply refuse to buy the films and games... And ignore those who protest that it's making the series better (because it isn't Star Wars definitely proved that beyond all doubts)

Kirkbride only worked on the lore of Morrowind main game, he left after launch.
In Daggerfall he did some of the pixel portraits.
With some contract jobs for one or two books in Oblivion.

Unless one is part of a religious organization compiling books into groups of 'directly revealed by divinity' and 'inspired by the divine', Canon has no meaning whatsoever. Corporations do not care about such trivial concepts such as canonicity.

Yes he's been gone forever but Kirkbride was always consistent with the lore.

LOL...

Michael Kirkbride wrote C0DA in rejection of the very idea of a TES canon. He was literally against the concept. Citing him as a source of canonical knowledge is laughable.

If you haven't read C0DA and think Michael Kirkbride is all about the canon, read it and wonder WTF is wrong with him.

If you have read C0DA and still think Michael Kirkbride is all about the canon... LOL
