Npc becoming too strong
Currently i am on level 16 and from past two quests the NPCs have become too strong for me to kill. The problem is not that their health is depleting at a low pace; but they are able to kill me in 3 hits at full health. which is at 190. In the companions 3rd quest quest where i should not have problems killing the normal npcs at level 16 they are able to kill me in 3 hits that too with killing scenes.

Is it some bug or what is all this, can someone help me.

Depends on a bunch of things, the enemies scale with your level so that can be part of it, I think there are also quests with enemies who may simply be too powerful to try and defeat at lower levels such as Dragon Priests.

It also depends on how you built your character, for example lets so you are a one handed sword user with a shield but you invested all your skills into speech, alchemy and lockpicking then yeah, you're gonna feel the pain when you try to fight.

Describe your build abit more and if these enemies were 'bosses' at the end of a dungeon or if they were just random Draugr lurking around.
Have you been raising a lot of non-combat related skills, like alchemy or sneak?
Because enemies scale to your level it can be a good idea to make sure you have combat skills as your main focus, like Armour and one handed...

Having said that, there is always a bit were NPCs do briefly outpace you, it happens differently for each build/difficulty, but you can get through it and if you focus on whatever skills you are using in combat (whether weapon&armour or magic) you soon reverse it and outpower them... There are also a few dungeons were you will be outnumbered, which feels the same, nothing you can do there except draw them off in smaller numbers.

Mods can also change how NPCs are, some making them more manageable, some making them tougher.

Early in the game you can acquire enemies if you commit wrong actions--at least in certain people's eyes. For instance there's witch you meet early in the game. If you make an enemy of her--by sneaking down into her basement and finding out her secrets--she will attempt to kill you. If you kill her instead three EXTREMELY TOUGH bounty hunters will show up to avenge her, and, if you value your life, you will run for your life. One or two hits and you'll be dead--at master level anyway. I've learned to leave her alone.

Likewise if you steal healing potions from an inn the owner may hire some hoodlums to wipe you out, so those can turn out to be expensive--quickly used up--potions. Little things like that to watch out for.

In addition to everything already beaing said.
Some dungeons have a min level on enemies/bosses so if you go there too early you will have a hard time. I suggest you get in a habbit to use followers untill you are strong enough to deal with enemies on your own without too much problems.

Don't get hit.. at least, not three times. Getting hit hurts.

There are tons of ways to play Skyrim. Not all involve charging in and swinging a sword.

If one tactic doesn't work, you need to adapt, improvise and overcome the challenge.

Try something different.

No easy answer. It can depend on what mods you have, what level of difficulty you are playing at, where you have invested your perk points.

Need more information before anyone can give you an informed opinion.

This game can be as easy or as difficult as you want it to be, it is entirely up to you.

I started playing this game again since Oldrim and forgot how badly tuning and balance is at low levels. Fire Mage fight for Sam's staff at lev 16 was brutal, but sometimes you have to game tough fights, just got Flame Atronach and hid around posts hehe... now its Dremora unbalance everywhere and crying povo mage challengers lol.

As other said try to get your combat skill up first, though there are some ways to make you kind of overpowered for your current level with alchemy and enchanting which I always do as a fighter.

First you need to find items that buff your alchemy and enchanting like rings and other gear, put these on when crafting. Also learn those spells so you can enchant your own buff gear.

Then you go and search for ingredients that buff enchanting &smithing and while wearing your alchemy buff gear you craft potions that buff smithing and enchanting.

So the idea is to buff alchemy as high as possible to then craft potions that buff smithing/enchanting and then put on your smithing buff gear and drink your smithing buff potion to craft overpowered weapons. After that drink your enchant buff potion and put good enchantment on top.

You can also enchant weapon skill /one handed/two handed on boots and gauntlets and necklaces to increase the damage output even more. Don´t forget to drink the enchant buff potion before to get better results. Get azuras star asap so you are not dependent on black soul gems.

With this method my two handed dragonbone sword deals 317 damage per hit now =)

btw the easiest way to get enchanting up is to learn soultrap asap and then trap every creature possible in souls gems and then just collect all the daggers from your fallen enemies to enchant those and then sell them. This gets your enchanting skill up quickly.

Take an extra weapon with you which is enchanted with soultrap that makes it easier as a fighter so you don´t have to deal with mana. I like to have a second twohanded sword with soultrap though a bow with soultrap can also be handy.

This depends on the type of character you want to play.

My rogue player at level 55 has only minimal combat skills. I use speech, stealth and companions to win. I may enter a dungeon, loot it blind and not kill anything.

Skyrim is an open world. You do not have to play as a fighter. However, no matter who you play as, you do not want to get hit. :)

Absolutely though it appeared to me from the op that he intents to fight hence the advice on how to gain a bit of an edge ;)

Oh and btw this method also works great to make op sneak gear or speechcraftgear =)

You are spot on. I assumed the same.

I hate to assume though so I threw out something that might get OP or others thinking outside the fighter box.

Your answer is most likely better suited than mine for OPs current playthrough for sure.

On my first real play through ( after I made a test character to try things out and joined the thieves guild to compare it to the previous elder scrolls games) I was doing everything Whiterun offered and I joined the Companions. When doing The Silver Hand at Gallows Rock with Aela after becoming a werewolf, when we got to the room with Krev the Skinner I stupidly ran in like Lydia would and had several Silver Hand attacking me at the same time, then I saw one with a 2hander start their big swing at me then the next thing I knew my head was taken off.

I still remember that because it was my first time I lost my head.

It was a good learning experience on playing smart and learning better ways to spend my perks early on in the game. And when outnumbered and your on a quest with a (forced in this case) companion along, let them do their part if you are new like I was back then.

Yes but your rogue will be overwhelmed when he does get into a fight, which is why the advice is to level up your combat skills first.

I will freely admit you can play it in a great many ways, and your sneak don't kill strategy is sound, but given the OP is saying NPCs are overpowered I'm guessing that isn't his strategy

From the original post I question if OP has a strategy at all and secondly if stealth and speech should be the strategy given the current results.

I simply refuse to believe that in the 21st Century the best reply that mankind has to adversity is always 'Hit it with a rock'.

Whether OP's desired result is to loot the dungeon or to win the fight the answer to his question is clear. Don't get hit often by things bigger and stronger than you are.

Leveling martial skill is a tried and true method of winning fights by being bigger and stronger than everyone else, but I suggest that someday, that won't work. Someone else will eventually arrive with a bigger rock than you have.

For those times, it is nice to have another strategy upon which to rely.

Once I learned such strategies I started to wonder why I carried around such a big rock anyway.
